    3. I am still trying to find more information on the family of William T. MILLER b.1830 AL. He married in Bradley Co. to Mary E. BLACK in 1865. His mother, Jane T. was with son William L. in 1860 in Drew Co and probably died in Bradley or Drew Co in 1865. I would like to find where she is buried and what her maiden name was. Jane T. and husband Joseph L. MILLER and son William L. were in Tishomingo Co, MS on 1850 census. Joseph L. d. in 1853 probably in Tishomingo Co, MS. ANY information would be greatly appreciated. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peggy HALL CALK [email protected] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    1. [ARDREW] Drew County Census/Township Question
    2. Sandra Lewis
    3. Hi Everyone, Before I get to my question I just want to say that I've been researching for about a year. I have been in contact with many southern counties and I've got to tell you that NO WHERE on this earth will you find kinder, friendlier, more helpful and knowledgeable people than the citizens and employees of Drew County, Arkansas. I am so grateful for all the assistance I've received from Drew County, both from the mailing list and the courthouse. I only wish other counties were half as helpful. My hats off to all of you who give of your valuable time to help so many genealogists. I live in California and unfortunately do not have the means to travel to AR, so I just want to thank you for all the assistance and valuable information you have given me. Now to my question. I need to know which township fell under Sup. Dist. 1 / Enumeration District 94, of Drew County during the 1880 census. I made a copy of a census page from this census that included the names of my ancestors, but does not include the top of the page showing the ED. I just viewed the 1880 Mortality census and may have found the spouse of my ancestor listed, but need to know the ED to make a positive match. Any assistance you can give me would be greatly appreciated. If I can avoid reordering the 1880 Drew census for the umpteenth time, I'd certainly be a happy camper. I have sent this to ARCensus Lookup mailing list, but have not yet received an answer. Thanks much, Sandy Lewis [email protected]

    3. Melissa, I also answered Marcie at her address. The sad thing is I had the Archives open for someone else at the time and it is a shame that she didn't contact us. She could have found most of what she was looking for at the Archives. We are always glad, if possible, to open up for someone from out of town if they can't visit us during the hours we are open. As I told her she would also find a smile there. I replied to her last night with my experiences doing research in Drew County, and told her about which courthouse office has which records, and that the archives might have copies of census records (glad to hear from Mary that I guessed right on that one!). ***** I will forward the posts from this morning along to Marci. I am especially interested in Jesse Bowden who probably was a brother of Reese Bowden. Jesse had four wives that I have: Katherine ?, Martha Ann Wiley (sister to Nancy Wiley, a wife of Reese), Louisa Donaldson, Sally Donaldson (sister of Louisa). In the 1850 and 1860 censuses of Bartholomew Township, Drew Co, there were Welch children listed. What connection could Welch be to Jesse Bowden, perhaps they belonged to a wife from a previous marriage? Peggy Carey, [email protected]

    3. Edna, Everything hasn't changed. If you are needing census records we have them at the Archives on microfilm. You hit someone on a bad day sometimes and it sound like she hit several or didn't get to the ones she needed to see. Please do not judge all of us in Drew County by one experience. If we can be of any help to you at the museum or the archives we are always more than happy to do so. That is what we are there for.
