Thank you, Gail, but this is the information I have and gave to whomever put it on the Internet. Except, I now believe that Lizzie was born in 1874. The 1900 census states she was born in June, 1874. Also, she had four daughters by James (Jim) Davis. Pearl Davis, my grandmother Lola Estelle Davis Nettie Jane Davis Bessie Davis She was married four times, the last being Joseph Maille. I knew Joseph Maille very well. He lived to be 91 years old. Thanks, again, for responding. Betty

Robert Deal and Betty Capps: The James L. Davis buried in Old Saline or Allis Cemetery is: James Leland Davis, son of James Harvey Davis and Susan Phoebe Nelson, who died just before his 19th birthday. James Harvey Davis was the son of Robert Grier Davis and Margaret Asenath Nelson. Robert, I have corresponded with Betty in the past about her James Davis. Apparently James Davis that Betty is looking for is a different James Davis. Carolyn Haisty camayh@cox-internet.com
Cheryl: I found this in a old letter written on May 15,1893. >>>>"Friar, brother Jim's wife you know married old man Lee. He is dead. He died two months ago with slow fever."<<<< Friar had made the Oklahoma land run and was living in Oklahoma at the time the letter was written. The above quote was written by John Monroe Deal to a friend(Friar) on the above date. John Monroe Deal was a brother to James Deal whose widow ( Mary)married Anson Pollen Lee. Friar's wife (Martha) was a 1st cousin of John Monroe Deal and James(Jim)Deal. The death date (July 30, 1893 ) for Mr. Lee in your message occurred after this letter was written.Mr. Lee's tomb does not have a month and day of death on it. Att: Betty Capps The nearest I could get to your listing is, James L. Davis 1871 to 1890 buried Allis Cemetery J.H. Davis 1841 to 1894 buried Allis Cemetery Nothing on the baby girls. Nothing on James Franklin Lawson. Robert Dear Robert & Bert: I've been reading your conversation on Cemetery listings in Drew County. I have a James Davis, who died around 1901, born 1860. He and two of his infant daughters are buried somewhere. One was named Bessie and the other Nettie Jane. Would anyone have come across any of these names? Also, a James Franklin Lawson, possibly in DeSha County. Thanks, Betty
Hello everyone, It is good to see people sharing information on the list these days! Keep up the good work. I have one favor to ask of everyone: When you reply to a message, please take a moment and trim off any unnecessary information from the original post before sending your message. Sometimes we forget to do that, and an individual message may contain a string of several previous messages. Cutting out the extra wording does several things: 1) It is a big help to the folks who are in digest mode, who would otherwise need to scroll past the old information time and again to get to the new information. 2) Also, it keeps the digests and individual posts smaller so they take up less space on people's computers, in case people save their mail long-term. 3) It takes up less space in the archives when we don't keep repeating the same posts. 4) It makes the archives much more helpful when searching, because the same text doesn't keep coming up over and over in the search results. Please take a quick moment before hitting 'send' and skim over your post. You can highlight the unneeded portions of the post to which you are replying and click "delete", then send your message. Thank you very much! --Melissa
Thank you so much for your response. I may have my info on the burial mixed up by I have pictures just have to locate them and I also found in a book. As I may have said my computer crashed and I am still looking for my last back up. I am going to doctors the next two weeks and my sister is having her second surgery in a week and a half on Thursday. She has been having the beginning series of breast cancer. Thursday we find out if it has spread and where. I go up Wed to doctor and she comes up to spend the night and she goes to surgery at 8 AM but we wont be through until about 6 pM. I am taking her to a friend of hers in Dallas and then my husband picks me up and we drive back to Longview. Then we leave to go to the doctor in Houston by 10:15 AM so we leave at the crack of dawn. Soooooooooooooooo please dont give up on me. Is Anson P Lee your direct line? I hurriedly read your information. The information about my great grandmother in the Times NOt Forgotten? is wrong on who she married, but I would love to know who she did. Thank you so much. She was contacted by her mother's sister in 1970's and oh do I wish I had known it which I did but wasnt into genealogy at the time and it flew over my head. I got very interested again and asked "my aunt who lived with my grandmother" many questions after my grandmother died. She was not very helpful, but I got a few names. I found out the names of Maggie Bell from my grandmother's 1/2 sister who was in a rest home and not well. I whipped through the cen! sus and found a lot of information. During this time, I moved for a short time to Midland TX with my husband's job. The first day I got to the library and almost the first book that I put my hand on was Times Not Forgotten and it had a ton of information about my grandmother and her family but had her mother married to a "Daniel" I have contacted some of the people but health, kids, etc has slowed me down since 1995. I found where Maggie Bell's grandparents were buried as a "birthday present". I had put an add in the Jackson MS paper and a lady called me on my Birthday and said that her grandparents and other children were buried on their land. During one of my son's soccer tournaments which was in Jackson we went down and had a wonderful visit, but I have not really gotten to follow through as I needed. I called a lady in AR forgot her name know but she was like my dad's second cousin and I never got them together. My husband took me on a tour of cemeteries on the way bac! k from Branson Mo for her was being extra nice for I was going home for my second back surgery. I called a lady and she gave me so much information that I thought I would die. I whose daughter, Annie Belle Jordan married John Taylor Walters of Garner TX (2) MRS. MARY FERGUSON DEAL and they had Alma married Benjamin Hackney and Elma married Jim Grant I would love to trade information with you if you are from that line. I do not know much about Maggie Bell and Anson Lee and further back. Thank you Cheryl Walters Parr Robert Deal <rdeal@ccc-cable.net> wrote: The Drew County Cemetery book does not list any Willis in Prairie Grove Cemetery. There is no Virgil Willis listed in any Cemetery in Drew County that I can find in the index of all cemeteries. Mount Tabor Cemetery has several Willis graves listed and a couple of females with similar names but the birth year and month does not match. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Hello, I'm hoping someone of you might have a link to one of the descendants of Robert and Jane Agee Burton. I would like to just list a few of the lines from each of his children. If you know anything about any of these names, please share with me. I will be glad to return the favor. 1. William Jefferson Burton (1834) married Miram THOMAS (1830). George fought with the acclaimed 9th Regiment, Arkansas Infantry which was composed of 10 companies from Southeast Arkansas. This distinguished group served east of the Mississippi River, much of the time in "Reynolds' Brigade in the Army of Tennessee". These fateful battles included such names as Shiloh, TN; Corinth, MS; Atlanta, GA; and Franklin, TN. After being wounded at Kennesaw Mountain, GA, George was sent to a hospital where he died of his wounds on August 22, 1864 at the young age of twenty-two. 6. David T. (Thomas) Burton (1847-?) married Mary Ann Wall (1850-?). Descendants say that they are buried at the Union Ridge Cemetery, Drew County, but there is no marker. More research is needed. Children of this couple were: 1) Albert Burton (1872-?); burial at Campground Cemetery, Drew County. Susan Celia Henrietta Burton (1856-1938) married William John McCullough (1852-1943) on December 07, 1875 in Drew County. She is reportedly buried in the Vanlandingham Cemetery in northern Drew County. Their children were: 1) Robert Hamilton McCullough (1876-?) m. Agnes Jane Goudlock ( ? ) 2) Margaret Ruth McCullough (1879) died at the age of 17 years. 3) James David McCullough (1893-1918) m. Paul Allen Whitaker and their child was Minnie Lee (m. Lee Opha Wallick), parents of Dr. Paul Allen Wallick of Monticello. Much more research is needed on this line as I have discovered some con- flicting statements. Child 2) who was said to have died at age 17 may have been William McCullough's sister, instead of daughter. He did have another child, not mentioned above: Maggie Ruth McCullough (March 27, 1879), the daughter of Celia Henrietta BURTON and William John McCullough was born at Relf's Bluff. Maggie m. Ulrich Cuthbert Davis who was born at Plantersville on December 11, 1875. One of their children was Guendolyn who married Lucius Reginal Jolley who was born in Possum Valley. They had one child, Regina Gwen who married Larry Ross McGinn. Reginald and his wife hold fond memories of the Do-Nut Shop which stood on the northern corner of Gaines and Church St. on the square, just north of the City Hall, Monticello, AR in the '50's - '70's. Also, James David McCullough may be a duplicate, also. According to some family records found in the DeArmond book, William John McCullough has a brother named James David who married Mattie Brown and had one child- a son named Brown McCullough. The younger James David married Addie Minerva Clark; their children were: (1)Marguerite (m. Charles Lanier Newton) and (2) James David (m. Alice Gertrude Kelly). More research is necessary. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for your time and attention. You may e-mail me directly if you wish. Oh, yes. Least we forget, thanks to Hettie Nell Horn for all of her help. I won't forget.
