    3. Thanks for the clarification, Carolyn. I've never lived in that part of AR so I only have relatives' hear-say to go on. I think I have notes on Griffin Funeral Home, too. I must have had relatives use them at some time (obits). 1. Re: [ARDREW-L] AR Death Index?
    2. Jann Woodard
    3. The death record index includes only the name of deceased and date of death. The purpose of the index is to let people know the record has been recorded with the state and is on file with the State Dept. of Health. These may be ordered and if anyone needs the address etc. let me know. Not all death are included, as apparently, it was not law at the time, to register deaths. I may be wrong on that statement so if anyone else knows for sure, please post the info. I didn't find the Daughtery you mentioned. 3. JoAnn I believe there are three vols of AR Death Index Records, beginning in 1914 thru the early 1940's. 3. Davie, I don't know who the Lasiter is, but have wonder if this is some of Peyton Lasiter's family. Maybe someone else can shed light on the subject. I do know there is lots of Lasiter information found in the Johnston Co., NC family history book and believe it connects with the same family in Drew Co. and some who were in Bradley Co. I have the Johnston Co. history book if you are interested. jann Join 18 million Eudora users by signing up for a free Eudora Web-Mail account at http://www.eudoramail.com

    3. I was happy to see this. Yall were going real good on this subject and then dropped it. I was really enjoying it. I have one to tell. Some of you will remember Juan Rabb. of Drew Central. We pronounced his name Jew-Ann. When I got to college and was reading Don Juan, I remembered Jew Ann Rabb. I am very happy I did not pronounce the title of the work "Don Jew Ann". I have told this story many times. 1. Fw: [ARDREW-L] Dyer Funeral Home in Tillar (abt. 1935?)
    2. John Haisty
    3. Jo-Ann, Dyer Funeral Home was in McGehee, not Tillar. It was owned by Harold and Clemmie Brown Dyer. Bill Brown on this list is a relative of Clemmie. Harold and Clemmie Dyer were very close friends of my Haisty family. It was on second street. I don't know anything about the records, but my mother maintained a policy with the firm until her death. It changed ownership several times after Harold left there. It was Dupwee - Dyer Funeral Home for some period of time. Then, the best that I remember it was just Dupwee. It is now owned by Griffin who also has at least one other funeral home - at Star City. Perhaps Bill Brown can tell you more about this subject.
