    3. Posted on: Drew Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Drew/71 Surname: Peacock, Adcock, Wright ------------------------- Jamie, I work directly with the historian for The Peacock Family Association of the South and a new edition of "The Children of Levi Peacock" is now being indexed and prepared for print. I have a rough draft of the Jesse Peacock chapter that I am helping edit, correct and add to. If your family is not in the book, it should be. Please contact me. The section that I help with, is that on Jesse Peacock who settled in the Florence - Selma area. The Peacocks all lived around there in the early days. They came to Drew County on a wagon train with John Harding Breedlove and his family. There were some in Ashley county who were related. Perhaps I can help you on Peacock. Also, if you have Adcocks in your lines, I have a friend who would like to be in contact with you on that line. Joe Lee Adcock was her grandfather. One of my lines is Wright, and I would like to compare notes on that line. Thanks.

She "divorced" John Lanier in AL (LONG story) and ended up in Drew County. She married a McDaniel once here , per her tombstone. Her daughter Annie Lanier Spears Castleberry was my husband's great-grandmother.

    3. Hi, all! I don't believe Jamie is on the list yet. Her message made it to ARDREW because it was posted on the query board on the web site. If you'd like for Jamie to see your replies, please go to this URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Drew/68 and post a reply. Your reply will show up both on the message board and here on ARDREW, so no one will miss your posting. Here's how to keep an eye out for messages that are posted to the query board. They will always have something like this at the top of the message (lines are added here for emphasis and don't appear in messages to ARDREW): - -------------------------------------------------------------- Posted on: Drew Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Drew/68 - -------------------------------------------------------------- These lines tell you what board the message is from (in this case, the Drew Co. Query Board), and what URL to visit to see the original and to post your reply. Hope this helps to distinguish the posts. Thanks! --Melissa Jamie Sanders Peacock wrote: > > Posted on: Drew Co. 2. Bob Deal
    3. John Monroe Deal was the son of Alexander Deal and Margaret West. ;Margaret was the daughter of James West. James West also had a son named Robert and a daughter named Martha. Robert West also had a daughter named Martha who married the Freyer the letter was addressed to. ("Cousin Martha" 1st cousin) Alexander Deal and Margaret West had a son named James L Deal d.3-15-1887 m. Mary Ferguson.( "brother JIm's widow" ) James West's daughter Martha married J M Meredith ( "Uncle Jim Meredith" ) J M Merdith and wife Martha had two sons ( Henry "Hank" Meredith and Tom Meredith ) Hank was the victim in the knifing. Eli Hayms was the Probate Judge of the estate of James West. ( " Old Judge Hayns is dead") Probate Book 1860 to 1865 page 358. Robert West was the Administrator. Note; I checked my original hand written notes on the spelling of Judge Hayms and this is spelling I wrote down. Sometimes those old records leave something to be desired in spelling and legibility. I have no explanation of why John Monroe Deal's tombstone is listed as James M Deal. According to some of the old tales I heard as a child he used the name "James Monroe" at times. All of my family records list him as John Monroe Deal. He was called "Roe" I attended his funeral. I hope this may clear up a few points in the letter. "Roe " was my Great Uncle. I have often wondered why Hank was hunting squirrels with a 38 Winchester. He is a descendent of Reuben Barrett who was b. in VA. With the Seymour name there, it has to be a connection some where. Most of these Barretts settled for a while in Neshoba County, MS.
