    3. To: Peggy Calk and Mary Lasiter: I am butting in on your conversation, because I too am related to John S. YATES. The Ed Yates mentioned in Peggy's e-mail is the son of John S. YATES and Mary F. JOHNS, my great-great-grandparents. I have John S. YATES, b. December 1839, supposedly in Mississippi (though I haven't found him there yet), d. after 1900 in Arkansas. He married Mary F. Johns, b.11-22-1842/Alabama, d. July 9, 1903 in Drew County, AR. They married July 14, 1858 in Ashley County, AR, according to "Arkansas Marriage Records." Their children were: Josephine Yates, b.1861/AR, m. Hearn; Eugenia Anne Yates, b. 1-14-67/Barkada, Drew Co., AR, m. John Wiley McCann; (My great-grandparents); Harriett E. Yates, b. 10-25-1869/AR, d. 11-25-1907/AR, m. Walter F. FERGUSON; Ed Yates, b. September, 1870/AR, d.? m. Minnie E. (?), b. 3-6-1872, d. 3/13/1900 in Drew County, AR. I have Ed's children as follows: Claude E., b. June 1890 Sara? M., b. October 1892 John W., b. March 1895 Jack, b. September 1897 As yet, I have found no record of a Lafayette. I doubt if he is a child of any of the above. I believe I have sources for most of the above. Let me know if this is of interest to you. Helen Peggy Calk wrote: > Thank you so much Mary. 3. There are a lot of Johns' buried in Andrews Chapel and some still live in the Barkada area. Do you know if Mary F. Johns Yates was related to Robert Lee Johns born 11-8-1902? He had a daughter named Mary Frances and I am wondering if she is named after a great aunt or something. She is married to my husbands first cousin. My sister also married one of Robert Lee Johns sons so I have some information on this later generation of Johns'. 3. Hi folks, Dawn's post about YATES was on the query board. Look for this header on those types of messages: Posted on: Drew Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Drew/79 Surname: YATES Visit the URL of the message (http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Drew/79) to reply. Please let me know if I should remove this feature. My original thought was that it would be great to have these query board posts automatically appear on ARDREW. That way, we don't have to check the query board every day to see if someone posted a message about our lines. Please let me know off-list ([email protected]) what you think about this feature. Should we keep it, or is it too confusing? --Melissa Mary & James Lasiter wrote: > > I am secretary/treasurer for the Andrews Chapel Cemetery Association > located in the Barkada Community in North West Drew County. 1. [ARDREW] A photo to go on the Drew Co site
    2. Jan Dunham
    3. I have an old photo of a school house with children that I belive was taken about 1901 or so in Drew Co. I am not sure of the date - but believe my grandfather (William Hockett ERWIN) was about 10 or so when the photo was taken and he was living in Drew Co. at the time. I now have a scanner and would like to send the scanned photo to someone to put on the Drew Co. site to see if anyone can identify the people in the picture. Is anyone interested? This photo is in a sepia tone (brown) and is on the hard cardboard ... it's been torn, but the picture is still intact. 3. Beth: Did I ever tell you that while at a Future Farmers of America Agricultureal Judging Contes held at Arkansas A & M I was dumb enough to climb the ladder of the tall water tower and then climb on up to the very top of the tank and write my name on the ball? We were not all that bright in what was about 1950 or 1951. I don't think Ol' Tubby Joe Stottlemeyer would have done anything like that. 3. An Edd Wilson was the father of Alvern Wilson Lusinger and Warner Wilson, but this was the only possibility I saw. Alvern and Warner, her brother, are both buried at Beulah. Accroding to Mrs. Hettie Nell, Alverne has no tomb. However, the part I found interesting was their coming from MOnroe Co., GA, about the same time as the Oneils and Hornes/O'Nealsj=HoRns of Prairie Chapel Community and Lacey. They must have known one another back in GA. I had always wondered if anyone else came to AR from that area as most people traveled in groups or followed somone else. Thanks for all the information. Mr. Waymond Wilson lives here in town; these sound as if they are his Wilsons. A lot of the Beulah Wilsons wound up in the New Hope Community. BETH THURMAN Monticello, AR

I kept the copy of the license that I obtained back in 1987. Polly and Fred are buried by each other so I did not know what happened there, but I would love to have some light on this subject if you could possibly do so. How neat that we met up!
