Douglas(s) is buried. James was born circa 1829. He is listed on the 1900 census, in Chicot County (he had land/homes in both Chicot County and Drew County). I can't find him on the 1910, 1920, or 1930 census. I've been told James is buried "in Monticello." Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I don't know; neither does Olivia. Aunt Lura Grubbs m Mitchell Godwin. cf p 227 OTNF Yes, ARDrew still there but very little activity. You can access the archives to find stuff. Address above. Who was Olin Godwin? Was he not the husband of Loura Godwin? Or was he a son? Help me patch this together! Reference was made to him in Aunt Bennie's nurse story and I'm thinking he was kin somehow on the Aunt Lizzie Grubbs side. Does Ardrew still exist and some of the family stories still stored in that web site? If so, how do I access it? I was thinking I had posted the story about our Uncle Walter wishing his throat was a mile long after a swig of his homemade hard corn brew! Would like to read it too. Patricia in Georgia, I am from a Veasey line in Arkansas that came from Georgia of Alabama. Abner and his brother James received a land grant in the early 1800s and settled here. Have you run across these names in your research? Marilyn

Seeking any info on KKK violence in southeastern Arkansas in 1880's-1890's, especially in Drew & Lincoln counties. Supposedly, my great great uncle, Thomas Lafayette Brown Jr. was killed in a gun battle near Tyro, Lincoln Co, Ark. on March 25, 1890 at age 28. One version of the story is that there was a big shootout at the old Hoover placenear Tyro, date unknown. Its said that a man was under guard by a sheriff's deputy in the man's house near Tyro...that Klansmen showed up late at night, then shot and killed the deputy and the man under guard; 3 Klamsmen supposedly also were shot. I don't know if Thomas may have been the deputy or the man under guard in his house. Some say it all started with a dispute over a woman (that one of the men involved had molested someones sister or sister-in-law, and possibly made her pregnant) Thomas left behind a widow, Frances "Fannie" Lay and two young sons, Thomas, Jr. and Charles Andrew Brown. Thomas Jr. married Annie G. Wilkins and 2nd married Velma Atkinson, all buried in Tyro cemetery. Charles Andrew went to Pine Bluff and married Inez Williams. One interesting note: Annie Wilkins was related to Andrew "Andy" Wilkins. A story handed down says, in the Tyro area, Andy got into a fight with some men, possibly Klansmen, shot and possibly killed two of them, and wounded another. Supposedly, Sam P. Johnson was one of the Klansmen killed, then buried on the old Johnson place, on the road from Tyro to Star City. I have seen several mentions online that Andy Wilkins was killed, but have no idea if that happened in the shootout at the old Hoover place, or at another time and place. Many thanks for any help proving any of this. Bill Brown in Dallas
Does anyone know how to obtain records from this TB Sanitorium?
