    3. Laura: I don't know or know of these people but we are, at last, getting some traffic in ARDESHA. If we get some traffic going I feel certain that one day we will start a good exchange of information. Just a piece of information. Mules were better than horses in new ground. 1. Foley
    2. Again, I'm requesting any information on Jno Foley, wife Jane and sons James and John. They were on the 1880 Desha Co., census. Jno must have died between 1880 and 1890. Would love it if someone could find out anything about Jno for me. Thanks, Laura

    3. OK folks, it's time to wake up and get in the genealogy business. Shoot! It's time to wake up and get into most any kind of posting busines. Maybe we will learn something about some of our folks that are long gone and some of our folks that are still around. 1. Wanda
    2. Stephens-Avery Family
    3. Wanda's a good name for a wife or dog...as long as you keep your priorities straight: I hope he spent more time at home with his wife, Wanda, than he spent in the doghouse. Speaking of names, does anyone on this list have access to any Desha Co. records? If so, maybe we could share some information with each other (discreetly, of course - I don't want to violate any copyright laws or step on compilers' toes). I'm sitting here fairly empty-handed in Indiana but I did order a head of household list for the 1850 census for Eastern Arkansas. Anyone have family in the county back then or need me to check on a surname? I'll try to get to the library by next Tuesday night (05 Oct) so let me know by then, if possible. 1. Wanda Patterson
    2. Billy Covey
    3. Desha County List: Wanda, Jim Bill's wife, was the older sister of Clara Bell Sewell. Clara Bell was a funny sort of girl. When I took her to the picture show, she wanted to watch the movie. 3. It's me again folks. Let us do what must be done to get this list started. Would anyone happen to know Ol' Jim Bill Patterson. He had some deer dogs once named Jim Bill and Wanda. I'll give all of you one guess to come up with Jim Bill's wife's name. 1. [ARDREW] Virgil Johnson (b ~ 1930)
    2. Stephens-Avery Family
    3. Hello All! I am searching for a Virgil Johnson, b. abt 1925 or 1930. He may still live in the area. I am hoping that he can shed some light on my Conrad family since he dated my mother, Hazel Conrad Hilburn, for awhile in the early 1950s. She moved to California soon afterwards and married but would occasionally mention friends that she left behind, including Virgil. If anyone knows him, could you please forward this to him? I don't want to intrude, just glean some memories of my mother as a young woman. Thanks, Jo-Ann Stephens

    2. Billy Covey
    3. Folksm, I went to Watson not too long ago and run across Ol' Horace Porter, J.D. Rana and, of course, Leslie Gill. Horace shot the bull with me, J. D. Rana shot some more bull with me and I think Ol' Leslie Gill might'a been the bull. Actually, Leslie was very helpful as I was looking for Watson type information. 1. Arkansas River Towns
    2. Billy Covey
    3. Hi All: Do any of you know the towns along the Arkansas River from Fort Smith to the Mississippi River that actually are on the river. I will be making the trip by boat in the very near futhre and need to know these towns in order to plan my trip. Some of the towns are obvious bur others are not. I need to know towns that are in easy walking distance from where a boat can be tied up. I realize this is not necessarily genealogically related but this river trip will afford me the opportunity to trace the migration up the river as well as the history of settlements along it. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration. Bill Covey Creator of Ol' Tubby Joe Stottlemeyer Author of: Watson Is Where It Wuz http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Station/3265/Welcome.html

    3. Margaret Louise Lee of McGhee died last Thursday night, 23 Sept. 1999. She was born 12 June 1920 in Moscow, Arkansas. She was married to Lloyd Benford Evans in 1940; he preceeded her in death. She leaves a brother, Varnell Lee, and two sons. If anyone has access to the local newspaper (McGhee), I would appreciate any extra information that is not listed above. She was my mother's cousin. Thank you, Jo-Ann Stephens Bahai@netusa1.net

    3. To Desha County List Members: OK folks it is time to wake up and smell the roses. The long awaited Desha County List is alive but it ain't kickin'. Does anyone know what in the world happened to L.W. Coffman who used to live out by the Gills near Watson? That rascal seems to have disappeared into thin air. 2. Hi Bill and to everyone on the list. Has anyone ever done this. My niece, nephew and I roasted a chicken buried in the ground this afternoon on the river. We used tin foil and flat shell rocks. Does anyone have any good advice on cooking this way.
