W. Harman. I found the book at my local library. I was interested because James Elbert Lamb was closely connected to some of my Crawford County lines. Here is one paragraph from the book: "....Another 'Carnival of hanging' occurred January 14, 1887, when four convicted murderers, James Lamb, Albert O'Dell, John T. Echols, all white, and John Stephen's negro, were executed. Patrick McCarty and John Parrott were to have paid the death penalty at the same time, but the latter was commuted and McCarty was granted a respite and was finally hanged on the eighth of the following April."
