I have about 36 hours before I give my father-in-law his family histories for his birthday. I would love to connect two more ORME generations before doing so. Here is the problem that I have: John W. ORME, himself, states that he was born in 1850 in Crawford County, AR. In 1850, there are only three ORME families, Walter age 66, Walter jr. and James. In the 1860 census, Walter jr. has a son John W. but he is 3 years old. My John W. should be ten. OK, so if I buy the chance that nobody could tell the difference between 3 and 10, here's more. In 1870 census, John W., son of Walter jr. only ages 8 years, he is now 11, my John W. should be 20!! In the 1900 census, John W. ORME says that he was born in 1850 and is age 49, born in AR. Based on the fact that John W. is the only source stating that he was born in 1850, I have a tendancy to accept Walter jr. as his father. What do y'all think? Rick Monroe Long Beach, CA
