The family of John Scofield is found in the 1860 Crawford county census in Cedar Creek Twp. with wife and 4 children aged 2--12. Edmond b. c. 1847 KY the others born AR 1854, 1856, 1858. John was farming but did own the land. Neighbors included Wm.Whitehead, Elbert and Thomas Lamb, Spencers, Roberts, Halry, Coleman and more. In the 1870 Richland Twp, Edmond is married with small son and sister born 1856, brother James born 1858 and a new sister? G.B. age 2. He is farming for John B. Shaw on Frog Bayou. Can anyone give me a clue as to what happened to John Scofield/Schofield and his wife between 1868-70. What happened to the three daughters and son James T.after 1870? Edmond was killed the winter of 1872-73 south or southwest of Ft. Smith. His widow remarried and was in Madison county before 1880. Has anyone seen the Scofield/Schofield name in Crawford or surrounding counties? Thanks Connie
