    3. Hi Listers: I found a tax record showing my ggggrandfather, Reuben Hamilton, in Crawford as early as 1832. Another distant relative has an abstract of a newspaper where Reuben offered a reward for anyone finding the body of his son, Audley Hamilton, who had drowned in the Arkansas river (dated: 1833). The winter of 1833 was horrible, with the Arkansas over flowing her banks. My question is, can anyone offer an explanation as to why people were in Crawford that early....was it made up mostly of men/women from Fort Smith? If so, is there a list of military men posted at Fort Smith during that time frame. Linda Hamilton Hart [email protected]
