AR 1822-1890: Cynthia Maddox marriage to a Nimrod Capps 13 Jun 1830, Lawrence C. Arkansas. Cynthia is a sibling of my direct Margret Ann Mattix who marred a David Hinds in the same marriage book. We then have a Nimrod Capps in the 1850 mortality schedule of Crawford Co. Arkansas (where our Margret Ann Mattix moved after marrying David Hinds) : This mortality schedule has age as 42 which means the birth year was probably 1808. We have an article in the ARKANSAS FAMILY HISTORIAN quarterly, Vol I, 1979 pub by Ark. Gen. Soc, 4300 A St., Little Rock, AR 72205. This info was sent to the quartrerly by: Mrs. Franklin P. Peterson, 14 Hammond St., Chestnut Hill, MA 02167. The artlcle in the Historian: "Capps, Matthew came from TN to MO some time between 1809 and 1823. Some of his children settled in Arkansas. Among these were: - Nimrod Capps, who m. Cynthia Mattix in Lawrence Co. in 1830 and - Martha "Patsy" Capps who m. Ransom Moore ca. 1828 and moved with him to Crawford Co. Ark. - Jane Capps who m. Mr. Turman and lived in Crawford Co. Ark. The next query on the same page has: "Capps, William Martin, b. 8/30/1832, Georgia, m. Catherine Bartlett, d. 1/8/1821 Little River Co., Ark. Father: Martin Capps, b. Ga. m. Katie Crossling, b. in SC." (Note that this Wm. was born in GA after the children of Matthew (above) had been married in Ark. These could be children of a brother, Martin Capps or no relation at all.) Hope this helps any Capps researcher out there..
