Hi: Thanks to another party I found the 2nd marriage of my Margaret (Mattix) Hinds to a Dr. John Autry in Crawford Co. AR. Note the reason why I couldn't find it before - the spelling "Otrey". I hadn't thought of THAT spelling. And, because I had him as Dr. Autry I PRESUMED wrongly that he was a medical doctor. But, by the newspaper announcement below - it seems he was a Rev. kind of doctor. Hmmmmm. Her first husband was David Hinds - married 1827 in Lawrence Co. AR Regards, Nan Wolf [email protected] ------------ "Van Buren Arkansas Intelligencer, August 22, 1846, Rev.John C. Otery married Mrs Margaret A. Hinds on August 19, 1846." Incidentally, the IGI has Margaret Mattix's maiden name as Taylor. I assume that because some Autry family researcher did not know that this was her 2nd marriage and since she and Dr. Autry named their first born son, ZACHARY TAYLOR AUTRY - well, her maiden name must be TAYLOR. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. The Autry's moved to TX from Van Buren, AR. Also in TX at the same time was Colonel Zachary Taylor - later to be President Taylor. This is the son that disappeared on a horse drive - driving horses to or from TX. Margaret (Mattix) Hinds Autry had seven children by David Hinds: (Esther, Edward, John, Elizabeth, Archibald Yell, (Nan's ancestor), Cynthia and Mary) and five more by Dr. Autry (Margaret, Sarah, Zachary Taylor, Joanna, and Eliza by 1854) Their mother Margaret Mattix died of the measles in Cooke Co. TX in 1861 and is buried near Greene Schools and Church in Cooke Co. Dr. (Rev.) Autry again re-married and had more children - his total number of children was 20!!!!!!!.
