Hello: Please excuse jumping in on another subject. I have subscribed to the list and sent inquiries but never see any of them and receive no answers so am not sure they are going in the right direction. My question: My Ancestors Job Ratliff, Guilford Ratliff, John Ratliff and son on were in Crawford County by 1827-28. Guilford Ratliff apparently married there , to Mahala, last name unknown. she could have been partly of Indian Heritage. Their first child was born in February of 1829. They were residing in Crawford County while other family members were in Washington County. They had come from Virginia through Illinois into Arkansas. They remained in Arkansas until the late 1840's when they moved into Williamson County, Texas. I am trying to find out as much as I can about their time in Arkansas and the MAIDEN NAME of Guilford Ratliff's wife. she was supposedly born in Kentucky about 1807. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you J. Lewis

Hello Does anyone have information about the trek from Virginia to Illinois to NW Arkansas? I am interested in learning about those who have made that journey in the 1830s. I am interested in learning about Mary McLaughlin Walters who was among a group of people who settled in Dripping Springs in the 1830s and I am interested in learning whether there was a specific group of people who arrived around the same time in Crawford County. Mary Walters daughter married into the Harrell line of Dripping Springs. I know that she also was from Virginia, went through Illinois, then arrived in NW Arkansas like one of the previous posters mentioned on the Ratliff line. What part of VA did the families come from? Were all of them from the same part of VA? Did any of them have ties to NC? Any facts will be appreciated. Thank you. -Angela- ________________________________________________________________________ Check out the new AOL.
