Thanks for offering your help. I spent a few days at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City last winter. I found the book by Sue Clark in the Library. She had gone to the State Land Office to collect her research. I have a copy of Index to the Arkansas General Land Office 1820 -1907: Volume Five, Covering the Counties of Washington, Crawford and Sebastian. Reuben's application for a land patent (maybe a homestead) is not listed. Another Crawford County researcher told me that the AR State Land Office had kept better records. Maybe Clark listed all patent applications and not just those that were registered as deeds. She noted that not everything on her list was a Land Patent, but I did not find what the other records might have been. My family moved to Lafayette Twp. in Crawford County by 1870. This twp. was not part of the land that Crawford County annexed abt 1890. When I reviewed the copies of the deeds and land surverys I found at the Family History Library, it looks like the Hills were living near Reuben's son's property in Sections 3 and 10. Abraham bought his property from Wm and Mary Fuller who bought their property from John R and Wm Meadors. J. R.'s land was just south of Fuller's land. From reviewing the Rose Family story, it looks like the there were two Hill families--John Speed Hill who m. Miriam Rose in KY and Uncle Perry who lived east if Belmont and south of Graphic. When living in Abe's house and near him, the story seems to say that they were living on leased land. When you get the book on Franklin County, please look to see if there were any Corder families who bought land patents in Franklin County. The deed for land in Crawford County, a mariage record between Margaret Corder and EB Hasset and the census records are the only records I've found in Franklin Co., AR.
