I think it is wonderful that someone would take the time to look up names in the Crawford County book. May I jump in and add my question? I am wondering if my great grandfather is mentioned in the book on Crawford County. His name was Uriah Waldron or Walden. He was in Richland from at least 1860 to 1895. Unfortunately he was illiterate so we dont have any proof of what the last name actually is. My grandmother said it was Waldron, but it was not always spelled that way in the census or his marriage records. He was married 3 times that I know of. Nancy Jane; Daisy Wells; Millie Cramine. I believe that he died in Crawford County as I he was quite elderly in the late 1890's. My grandmother lost contact with the family when she moved to Indian Territory with her husband. Any help would be appreciated. -- Bev Stay young. You'll live longer.

Hi Karla, Thank you for the HOKE information. Was great! Yes, I would appreciate the dates on the stones for Benjamin Franklin STRONG I went back through all of the emails and I didn't receive any information regarding STRONG. I am so sorry, I do not know what happened, but I am excited to know there was STRONG information in the history book, and if I could trouble you one more time for that History book info on STRONG, I will be most appreciative. You are really providing a service to Crawford county researchers and I thank you so very much Karla! Lavonna

Hello Karla, You've obviously been flooded with requests, but here I go with another one. Does your book list the surnames of MOTT or BRADEN? Of course, I, too, hope this book is still for sale. I look forward to your posting. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Chris Mott Eagle Point, Oregon
Dear Karla, I would be interested in purchasing this book if there is very much or any at all information of the following surnames. Especially STRONG & HOKE. I would appreciate any information please. Thank you! Lavonna Smith
Hi Karla, Thank you for the so much for the information on the Mobley family! I really appreciate all the time and effort you have put into this! If and when you have the time, could you tell me if the author gives sources for the following: On Clement & Isaiah, listed on pg 18, under the paragraph of Steamboats, it says Around 1830, Clement & Isaiah Mobley arrived at Phillips Landing from Kentucky. They reported finding only one log cabin dwelling -- that of Thomas Phillips. They settled on Lee Creek near the present community of Cove. I'm wondering to whom they "reported" this. I have never been able discover any family papers, or anything. (I have copies of their Revolutionary War pension applications, which I obtained from the NARA.) It never occurred to me that they might have traveled from Bowling Green, Warren Co., KY by steamboat. I always assumed they went by wagon. It would be interesting to know if there is anything to substantiate this. I have read about steamboats plying the Green and Barren Rivers around Bowling Green in that era. Would you let me know the exact title of this history of Crawford County? The book makes it look like the brothers traveled directly from SC to AR, but they actually lived in Warren Co., KY for a considerable number of years, before going to AR. (Clement longer than Isaiah). Also, the author has confused Clement Mobley, father, and Clement Mobley, son, combining them into one person! Sibella was the wife of the father. According to the 1850 census "China" was the wife of the son (the 1850 census is my only source for that, though, and the author may have had something else.) I can go into the other errors in the Mobley info, if anyone on the list is interested. Could you check to see if there is a William Johnson with a wife named Sicily (Cicily, Cecily) in the book, when and if you have the time. I expect it's a long shot. I think Sicily (daughter of Isaiah Mobley) may have traveled to AR, either with her husband, or as a widow (with her father?), and that she eventually married Guilford Pylant of Washington Co., AR, but I have not been able to prove it. Guilford and Sicily had two Mobley girls, Sarah A. E. (born c. 1831) and Emily (born. c.1833) living with them on 1850 Washington Co., AR census. (David's children possibly?) David is a real puzzle! I think that Isaiah had a son named David, and that his brother, Clement had a grandson named David. Thanks again for all your hard work! Carol
Wanda, Have you contacted the Marin County Genealogical Society? I understand thier Library collection is now housed in the Family History Center. They will be able to advise you what records are available for research. If you live in the SF Bay Area, the collection at Sutro Library in San Francisco includes books from many states. They have many City Directories from various localities on microfiche. If you do not have online access to Census records, Sutro also has a good collection of census films. They lived in Hot Springs Arkansas. Grandpa was born there on January 1, 1879. My Mother Eva Marie Speer was born in Hot Springs on October 14, 1910. There are Merriotts, Graves, Blockers, Bailey's, Phillips and many more names in my family line. My Grandfather had one brother, William Thomas Speer, and a sister Amanda Speer. I have heard that my Grandfathers sister never married, but several people said she was. My Grandparents had 13 children (I think). They left Arkansas and moved to Texas, but I am not sure when they moved. They migrated on to California around 1948 when my Parents moved us out here. They lived in Farmersville, CA for several years. I heard that my Grandmother's family were from Kentucky, but have never found anything to tell me that they were. All my relatives are gone now, except one Aunt, who still lives in Tx., but she isn't sure about some of the things I mentioned. I would like to find out just where they lived while they were in Arkansas. My Grandfather donated land for a church in Hot Springs, and he played his fiddle at some of the dances they held there. My Grandparents lived with my Parents for several years, and were both living with them when they passed away. Grandpa died at Letterman Hospital, just over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. My Grandmother died in Novato, CA, on this side of San Francisco, both in Marin County, CA. I have been trying to put together a pattern of where they lived, but am not having much luck finding anything. Anything you can find on them would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch. I would very much appreciate a lookup of the surname Fleming. I am searching for an obituary and burial site of William Monroe Fleming and Sarah Fleming his mother. They lived in Dyer and Mulberry. William was also known as W. M. and Will Fleming. William died on October 09, 1917. He had a sawmill in Dyer and grew cotton along with the Alexander Family. He was very well know and I am stumped as to why I cannot find an obituary for him. I have an obituary for his mother, Sarah Fleming who died on January 13, 1919. She died in Fort Smith and her body was sent to Mulberry for burial. However Mulberry Cemetery has no record of a gravesite for her. Also when William died he had a daughter named Amy Fleming. I have not been able to locate a death date, obituary or burial site for her. If anyone has the Fran Warren books perhaps they would be in those. Hi, I am trying to find out information about my great great grandmother Emily Reed (married name.) I have found her in the 1870 census in Van Buren, Crawford County, but she died between 1870 and 1877 -- possibly during child birth in 1871. The entry in the 1870 census is below: 1870 census, Crawford county, Van Buren > James Reed (24) -- born Tenn. > wife -- Emily (22) -- born Arkansas (later census says Ind. Terr.) > Son -- James P. (1) -- born Arkansas I am trying to find some record or information about her birth, marriage to James and her death or any information about her. We live in Seattle and it has been hard to do research long distance. We went to Van Buren once, but no real luck. Thanks Judee
