    3. I have all the family tree info found on Rootsweb and I really appreciate the time you spent looking for me. Some other decendants of David M McCaslin and I are doing research on the McCaslins and hoping to compile a book on them sometime in the future. Do you know where I may find history of our family? Thank you again Barbara for all your help and to Ken Baker for his information. Ken I sent an email to you. I am from George Washington McCaslin the youngest son of David M McCaslin. Do either of you know what happened to William and Amanda McCaslin (David M McCaslin children). I have their birth dates but nothing else. Amanda was born in 1839 in Arkansas and William was born in 1847 in Arkansas.

    2. Hi, I am Ken Baker. David Mccaslin was my GG Grandfather. I am descended from his son Andrew Jackson Mccaslin, and his Daughter Manerva Elizabeth Mccaslin Baker. The only thing that I have found was where he helped start a Meth Church at Natural Dam, AR., a community nears Rudy AR where they lived. The M initial I don't know about. I have heard that it was actually a W for Wasson . I live in Washington Co AR near where they lived in Crawford county. Where are you located and what line do you come down from? Ken

    3. I received both e-mails. As far as I know the Becky Wright and the New Shepherd cemetery are both in Crawford County near Lake Fort Smith. I think that is the reason for moving the Becky Wright cemetery as they are expanding the lake. They moved a cemetery many years ago when they were building the lake. Some of those graves went into the Vaught cemetery, north of Mountainburg, I believe. Sorry for the problem, but I am getting the mail. 2. Karla; Thank you so much for looking this name up for me. Unfortunately, I can't identify any of them. I was afraid of that. It is like Uriah WALDRON/WALDEN dropped off the face of the earth after he married Millie CRAMINE in 1895. Maybe he died right after that. Rumor is that he worked on a ferry boat for a lot of years. As he was illiterate, he didn't put his hand to any type of written record that I can find. Thank you again for all your hard work. -- Bev Stay young. You'll live longer.

    2. There is nothing on this (pg18) that tells if someone submitted it to Eula or if these are excerpt from the newpaper, word of mouth or ??? Some of the stories Eula has put in the book, she has either interviewed (she had placed an ad in the paper asking for people to share their stories with her like 2 years before the book came out. And so some are from individuals and those she did give credit at the end of the column or story. So that is why I wonder if these are excerpts. I also heard there was a reprint to this book but I dont know for sure. But I will ask when I hear from her. She is an elderly lady and hasnt been in the best of health. I did call and left a message and when I find out something I will post it. The name of the book is History of Crawford County, Arkansas. It is 647 pages long. Buried at Fairview Cemtery. p157 Uder the heading of Van Buren Female Institute (Academry) and says this; The academy was incorporated by the Arkansas Legislature in 1858 by House Bill #33. The clouds of war were hovering over the horizon and the spring of 1862, the Young Ladies Seminary at Van Buren was closed due to the Cival War. It never reopened. The following list of contributors and sturdents who attended in 1859-1860. (Under the Column of names of local resident Contributors to the Educational Institute for the Fall and Winter sessions this Walden is mentioned Walden, Mary A. Walden, Roxana P. p210 Uder the heading of The Infirmary (Poor Farm) Cemetery and says this; These burials in the Infirmary also known as the Poor Farm Cemetery were researched by Mrs. Juilan Hawkins from personal research. Sadly the cemetery is in very poor condition, it is almost lost in an undergrowth of brush, weeds, brairs and brambles. These are a few headstones except those of native stones. Listed in alpha order ( I am just sending you the surname you asked) Walden, C.W. died 4/1889 Walden, George Died 1909 p187 Uder the heading of Churches from early times to present and says this; Life time and long members. Mattie Walden is one of them mentioned. p120 Under the list of Mayors from Van Buren It lists that in 1860 Thomas Walden had a one yr. tenure as Mayor p 314 It is talking about Edward Cunningham and an excerpt states; By the time the census enumerator arrived in 1860, Edward Cunningham and his wife, Susan F. were both deceased, and the business was in the hands of his partner. His son John M. Cunningham , was living in the home of Thomas Waldin. p420 Uder the heading of the John Ree family it states; John Ree married on 22 August 1867,to Mary Elizabeth Waldon, the daughter of John and Susan Waldon, and they are the parents of 7 children. (It has the children listed if your interested) p11 Uder the heading of Territorial Magistrates Thomas Waldron is listed as magirstrate on October 27, 1835 Good Luck Sincerely Karla In a message dated 10/5/2005 9:48:07 AM Central Standard Time, b.otoole@comcast.net writes: I think it is wonderful that someone would take the time to look up names in the Crawford County book. May I jump in and add my question? I am wondering if my great grandfather is mentioned in the book on Crawford County. His name was Uriah Waldron or Walden. My grandmother said it was Waldron, but it was not always spelled that way in the census or his marriage records. He was married 3 times that I know of. Nancy Jane; Daisy Wells; Millie Cramine. I believe that he died in Crawford County as I he was quite elderly in the late 1890's. My grandmother lost contact with the family when she moved to Indian Territory with her husband.
