My ancestor, John Ratliff b. about 1750 VA. , along with his wife and four sons, migrated into Arkansas in the early 1820's. they were in Washington County and Crawford County. Possibly some of the others due to counties expanding from one into another. John is on an 1832 Tax List. Not long after that his sons begin to move in different geographical directions. Seems a couple came into Texas while another went to Missouri. This leads me to believe that John Ratliff died in Crawford County about 1833. His wife may have died before then. They would have been between 70-80 years of age. I am searching for the burial site of this couple or either one. I know this is an impossible dream but I do so want to find their site. If you can help with ANY information on the John Ratliff family I will be every so grateful. Thank you, J. Lewis

Your local public library usually can get almost any book for you, via "Interlibrary loan" and now that libraries generally have computer-based catalogs, can locate a copy rapidly (Don't ask for details, please--we librarians, including yours truly, worked on that system for most of forty years, from the sixties on. Anyone out there remember the sixties? Duncan the Librarian Yarmouth Port, MA _WallDuncan@AOL.COM_ (mailto:WallDuncan@AOL.COM)

Ms Perryman, I have two relatives that moved to Crawford County from Bartow County, Ga. They are brothers. The first one to move to near Mulberry is Wiley Franklin Nichols. He was there at the time of the 1870 census(name spelled Nicholes) He was a Confederate vet and drew a pension from the State of Arkansas. He died between Sep of 1915 and Sep of 1916. His brother William, a blacksmith in Mulberry, was there by the time of the 1900 census. I found a death of a William Nichols in Crawford County on Mar 8, 1928. I would appreciate your checking for any obits for these two men. Wiley Nichols' wife was Mary Jane Whitlock. William Nichols first wife was Mary Josephine Wade who died Mar 19 1907 in Mulberry and is buried at Quesenberry Cemetery there. He then married Ada Westbrook, probably in Crawford County.
