    1. KEY/1800's
    2. bonnie hill
    3. Hello everyone. I'm a newbie to your mail list. Does anyone out there know anything about the KEY line? It seems my ggrandfather was born in MO in 1865, and they must have traveled to AR because he married in Washington Co. in 1877. His three children, Laura Clemina, William Jessie Irving and Orpha were all born in Natural Dam Twp. in Crawford Twp. It is supposed that's where he died in 1890. I've been given a clue that they might have been tied to the Davis KEY line in the 1870 Wash. Co. census. Does anyone have anything? I've been hitting a brick wall for 10 years on his parents and siblings. Any help sure would be appreciated. Thanks Bonnie in Idaho

    3. Anyone researching the Wright Families of Crawford Co., Ar. Please contact me as I have been hitting a brick wall with finding the parents of my GGGGrandmother. Also does anyone have any info or index or book of the old Crawford Co., Newspapers. I am trying to find an article that was supposed to have been written on the above persons death. I do not have a date only a time frame to go on. I have narrowed it down to between May 11, 1910 (day she was on the census) to Oct 22, 1911 ( day her husband remarried after her death). She would have died as Nancy Pittman. Thanks so much Debbie [email protected]

Some migrated west before the "removal" by Jackson and many settled in the western AR lands. Legally one was supposed to be Indian to live in I.T. but by the 1830's so many whites had married into the Nation that many were of mixed race and had many white relatives. Most of my Crawford Co. ancestors came there from NO. GA in the 1840's (settling at Georgia Ridge) and a number of them moved to the Cherokee Nation, I.T. around 1888 to establish citizenship, first applied for in 1886 and subsequently denied in 1888 and on appeal in 1896. >1880 Census -- Crawford county, Arkansas > >James M. If they exist they could have what you need. These records used to be held by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Muskogee, OK (Where the United States Court in the Indian Territory, Northern District was located). These may be at National Archives in Ft. Worth now? Also some records are held by the Indian Archives Div., OKLA. Historical Soc., Okla. City. Some of this info is over 25 years old and locations may have changed but I would start in Tahlequah and Muskogee. Reed was born in Tenn and his father was born in Tenn. and his mother in North Carolina. I do not know the names of this parents. Emily died between 1871 and 1877 after giving birth to a daughter, Lillian J. (Lilly) in 1871. 1880 Census -- Crawford county, Arkansas James M. Reed (34) married to Martha Children: James P. 3. Searching for information on the family of James B. and Phebe (ADAMS) McGEE. They are listed on the 1880 census for Crawford County: McGEE J. B. age 33 farm laborer Phebe age 35 housekeeper George age 6 Jessee age unreadable THOMAS Sarah age 16 stepdaughter I believe this to be the parents and siblings of my grandfather, James Isaac McGEE born 7 Jul 1880 Crawford Co, AR, died 12 April 1932 Bentonville, Benton, AR. Supposed to be buried at the Temperance Hill Church, but there is no record listed for him. I have not been able to find the family on any other census. A Phebe McGee is buried in Van Zandt County, Texas where James Isaac and his wife lived, per the 1910 census. There is also a Jessee McGee (male) listed nearby with children, no wife. James Isaac McGee married Marigrette Alifair JOHNSON in Saline County, AR. Their marriage certificate states that he was a resident of Oneal, Independence Co, AR. He owned a ferry boat that he operated on the White River at Oneal. I have an original Ferry license dated 1925 and his Ferry rate list dated 1927. Also a photo of him on the boat on White River. I also have a .38 Iver Johnson revolver that he accepted as fare to cross the river, from a cowboy of that era. James Isaac McGee was also a jeweler. I have a wonderful photo ca 1914 showing him and Marigrette on a dock, he is wearing one of the old bell diving helmets and she is holding his air hose. They are surrounded by oyster shells. A family story relates that he did actually find a large pearl that she later sold to pay for his funeral. I have a complete oyster shell with the resting space for a very large pearl, that Grandma had written 'White River' on, in pencil. I would dearly love to find other descendants of this family. James Isaac and Marigrette McGee had the following children: 1. James Isaac McGee, Jr. b 1912 Willspoint, TX m Anna Westbrook, lived in Springdale, AR. Many descendants still in the area. 2. Mazel Avis McGee, b 1913 TX, m Lester Wayne Gore (my line) 3. Lionel Edison McGee b 1915, TX, m Catherine RAY, lived in Clifton Springs, NY, no living descendants. 4. Phoebe Marlena McGee b 1917, m E. Lester Westbrook, lived in Springdale, AR, many living desc. in that area. 5. Edgar Wayne McGee b 1918, Oneal, AR m Jewell Lewis. Desc living in CA, and WA. 6. William Howard McGee b 1921 Independence, AR m Dorothy E.
