My ggrandparents Levi SMITH and his wife Frances M. DOAK moved to Conway Co., Ark. from Marengo Co., AL at the end of the Civil War. Both Levi SMITH and Frances DOAK were born in Maury Co., TN. Their children were: Eugenia who married James GRIFFIN in Marengo Co., AL; Elvira who married James Thomas BROWN in Conway Co.; Louisa (unmarried); Theophilus who married Minnie FOSTER (1 son 3 dau.); Walter (unmarried); Doak who had a son named named Martin. James Thomas BROWN and Elvira SMITH were my ggrandparents. James Thomas BROWN is believed to be born in Tennessee and then lived in Jefferson Co., Ark. before moving to Morrilton.
