    2. Patricia Worsham
    3. In the history book of Conway Co AR, there is a W.W. Pierce mentioned among the early settlers of Old Hickory. James Pierce is mentioned as signing a charter for the Missionary Baptist Church in 1874. Can anyone identify these men? I am looking for a Pierce line that moved from GA>AL>AR. Does anyone know where the list of early settlers came from? Tax rolls? Finally, does anyone know if the author of the Old Hickory Chapter, Thomas Woodrow "Woody" Williams Jr., is on line (or his snail mail address)? Thanks for any help! 3. Lisa Sherin, I just read on the Arkansas mailing list that Arkansas has no organized death index before 1914. Do you think it possible that we could start compiling our own? If everyone on the Conway County list would contribute the death dates of their ancestors maybe we could get a decent sized list built up. We could also do the same with births and marriages. Obituaries could also be included. I would like you to look at the URL below and see what is being done in Hamilton County, Illionis. This is where my father's family came from and I think it is the best thing I have seen yet in aiding people in search of their roots. 1. [ARCONWAY-L] GRANT/SITTERLEY surname
    2. yvonne henson
    3. Hello list members -- First, I apologize for the length of this request. This is ALL the information that I have. If anyone has any suggestions or recognizes any of these names, I would deeply appreciate any/all help in solving this puzzle. Dora Adaline GRANT was rumored to be a Cherokee Indian. I have no proof of this or any evidence to suggest that this is true, only family stories. I do not know where she was born or who her parents were. The evidence I have of her life is two marriage licenses one for 1890(Jackson County) and one for 1897(Conway County) and the 1900(Conway County), 1910(Yell County), 1920(Lonoke County) census records. She was born 1870 - 1875, died 1942. (I have been unable to obtain a death certificate or social security record. I have her obituary.) She was married 3 times and had children by all three husbands. All her children are deceased. She lived all her life in AR according to the census records. The names I have are as follows: Dora Adaline GRANT (1st marriage), M MALONE, (children) Pearl b ~1893 married a HAIL/HALE, Myrtle b ~1892 married W F PAINE/PAYNE (2nd marriage), Noah Strong EDMON(D)SON, (children) Houston Grantson b ~1898 married Mabel MCARTHUR, Charlie b ~ 1903 married Rosie Katherine SENTELL (3rd marriage), Joseph Wesley CARLOCK, (children) Ruby b ~1909 married 1st GRIMES, 2nd FURR, 3rd EANES, Hurbert/Herbert b ~ 1910 married Edna TEMPI ELGIN. Ruby's children are as follows: Ruby Jean GRIMES, Margaret FURR, Russell EANES, Carolyn EANES. She had two brothers, WAIN b ~1880 and JAMES b ~ 1884 GRANT. I found them listed in 1900 soundex for Welborn township, Conway County. They were enumerated with POLLY SITTERLEY b ~1858, listed as mother and head of house. She is listed as 42 years old, widowed, mother of 6 children with 3 living. I have a marriage license for Jim (Jas) GRANT to MRS. ALLIE WINTON August 7, 1903, Conway County. He is listed as 21 years living in Cardon Bottom in Yell County. She is listed as 25 same place. 2nd marriage for James GRANT to Josephine Vaughn Verden in Pope/Yell County. James died in 1926 buried in Brearly cemetery in Yell County. His death certificate lists his name as James H GRANT, born in Searcy County. Father's name is Andrew (born Mississippi?) and mother's maiden name is unknown. I have a marriage license for Wain (Wayne) GRANT to MATTIE GRAMBLE February 14, 1903, Conway County. He is listed as 23 years living in Atkins in Pope County. She is listed as 29 same place. James GRANT listed as head of household in the 1910 census for Wilson Township, Yell County. He is listed as 25 years old, divorced and married for 6 years. (The years were crossed out.) Also listed in this house is Polly SITTERLEY, mother, 50 years old, widowed, mother of 6 children with 3 living. And Myrtle MALONE, niece, 18 and single. Are any of these names familiar to anyone? Does anyone recognize the SITTERLEY name? Thank you for taking the time to read my post and ANY suggestions would be appreciated. 3. Good Morning Phyllis Mary Ann Williams Kissire is not listed in the Conway Co Cemetery Book Vol 4, which has Grand View & Pleasant Hill listed. There are no Kissire graves listed at Pleasant Hill Cem. Was she the wife of John Kissire, b 2 Jan 1832 and d 9 Sep 1876? He is buried at Grand View. There are many unmarked graves there. She could be buried next to him.
