    2. W David Samuelsen
    3. Today marks the last day Rootsweb mailing lists working. Tomorrow, the Rootsweb mailing lists are no more. All messages that had been posted here are saved and archived, will continue to be accessed and read. Subscription, no more Postings, no more Replies, no more BUT ! Successor lists are here, but at another place The successor list for this list is: https://groups.io/g/Arkansas-Genealogy sorry, no county list for this one, yet but the list owner may create "subgroup" for the county alone, within this state list. Go to the site and "join this group". This is easy step. David Samuelsen, subscriber

    1. [ARCONWAY] This Rootsweb list will be shut down 2 March 2020
    2. W David Samuelsen
    3. This Rootsweb list will shut down 2 March 2020 per Ancestry's decision Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails.  Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. I do not wish to leave you in dark when the old list shut down all of a sudden. I invite you to migrate over to the new list. 67 members already moved to the new list. There are features you can use, not available at Rootsweb. Photos, files allowed. County hashtags to filter you to specific counties. Expandable. Go to the site first, to join Scroll down to the blue button where it says "Join this Group". https://groups.io/g/Arkansas-Genealogy W David Samuelsen

So, I have compiled a list of the groups available, that I'm aware of. (There are also a few updates!) And I know there are lots more that I missed, but I wanted to make sure you knew about, and had access to, the county groups. Again, please keep in mind, that many of these are relatively new groups, but there's no better way to spread the news, than "word of mouth". A few people shared the news of our Newton County group, and it now has nearly 1,000 members, with lots of stories, photos, and family connections! Just another resource for researchers!! 3. I agree totally Phyllis. The same applies to information posted to Ancestry.com. People add in information without documentation to be sure that it is right. That information is very seldom changed or deleted. It is very sad. I am the Conway County Coordinator for the Arkansas Gravestones Project. It can be found at www.arkansasgravestones.org. This is a wonderful site. I am sure there are mistakes on it but when it is confirmed that a mistake has been made then it will be changed. The ladies over this site are great to work with. Please take a look at the site. Actually, any information found on any site should be documented and proven before you accept it as being right. Thanks. 3. Find-A-Grave is a great site for burials IF the information posted is correct. I have seen people listed in the wrong cemetery, wrong dates and wrong parents. In one cemetery I saw a person listed with the incorrect parents. In fact the parents were married 2 years after the person was born. I contacted the person who submitted the information and told them of the mistake and they have not changed it. I have seen memorials with the wrong dates even where a headstone picture is on the memorial with dates. Also there are those who guess at situations, I have seen people listed as divorced when in fact one spouse died and the surviving spouse remarried. I have seen them listed as dying when there actually was a divorce. Why would someone want to post incorrect information? Do you think you are helping someone?  It makes people not trust your information and question everything you post. We all make mistakes and need to be corrected and I want to be corrected when I am wrong. Phyllis Maulding Campbell
