I am the gr granddaughter of Wm Samuel Puckett who moved to Columbia Co. AR in 1888, along with wife, Malinda Lucy (Barber) & their family of 8 children. Wm's brother, Joseph Richard Puckett & his family made the move with them, from Coweta Co. GA. They were the sons of Andrew Jackson Puckett & Francis E. (Roberts) Puckett who married in Coweta Co. in 1837. Obviously, they are related in some way to the other Puckett/Roberts families in the area. The earliest I can find is James L. Puckett & w/Martha Ann (Casey) Puckett of Miller Co. According to other sites, James was the son of John A. Puckett & Caroline (May) Puckett of Forsyth Co. GA. I believe that John A. Puckett was my Andrew's brother since Andrew's first son was also named John A. Puckett. Andrew (b 1806, SC) isn't listed with other children of John A's parents James M. & Elizabeth (LeGrand) Puckett of VA. Several of Andrew & Francis' children also lived in Forsyth Co. Can anyone on the list tell me the origin or the earliest ancestor in GA and/or SC of the Roberts (surname) in the area? Also, any further info on these Pucketts will be most appreciated as well. An old family "story" is that these Pucketts were disowned or written out of the family history, apparently over a disagreement regarding the marriage of Andrew & Francis.
