I have some original tax records from Columbia, Nevada and Ouachita Counties and they reflect that taxes were paid in Washington, Arkansas from 1852 to at least 1854. It seems that after the war, my records from that time forward shows that all taxes were paid in the respective counties at the Sheriff's Office. Charlotte Holly
