Columbia County wasn't established until 1852. Prior to that it was part of Hempstead, Lafayette and Ouachita counties. There is a good chance that there are tax records at the courthouse although I cannot verify it. I do know that luckily Columbia County has only had a few fires at the courthouse and everytime the majority of the records were undamaged. It would be worth it to give them a call or a visit.
