I am interested in corresponding with anyone researching the Reaves/Reeves line in Columbia, Hempstead and Union Counties. I would also like to hear from anyone whose line crosses this line in these areas. Thank you. Karen Reaves Moss
Karen, I am not descended from the Reeves/Reaves family in Columbia County, but it is a related family. The widow and children of Jeremiah Reeves moved to Columbia County around 1855. Elizabeth Scroggins Reeves remarried D. J. Smith. Some of her children were Emaline (Emma), Susan, Mary, James, Joseph, Willliam Henry. Elizabeth Scroggins was the sister of Lucina Scroggins and Jacob Sanders Brazell (my great great grandparents), who moved to Columbia County in the mid 1850's from Harris County, GA. Could this be your Reeves family? Jane Brazell Sisolak Karen Moss wrote: > I am interested in corresponding with anyone researching the > Reaves/Reeves line in Columbia, Hempstead and Union Counties. Jane, I responded to your message to James before I received your post to me. I checked my file again and found Daniel J. Smith married to Elizabeth Reeves Nov 13 1859 in Columbia County. I don't have any children for them. About a year ago, my mother and I went to Magnolia and spent two days in the courthouse. I made a database from this information and therefore have quite a few loose ends. Daniel and Elizabeth are one of these. I did not realize that Reeves was not her maiden name. I was looking for the children and found no Emma (Emaline), Mary The only Susan Reeves I have was born in 1846 and married William E. Robertson in 1862. Is this the daughter of Elizabeth Scroggins and Jeremiah Reeves? I have two J.S. Reeves born in 1851 and 1855 married to Minnie Knight and Mary Jackson respectively. The only James Reeves I have are all too old to be the son of Elizabeth and Jeremiah. I would love to swap information with you. You could possibly confirm or destroy my thoughts on some lines. Looking forward to hearing from you.
