hey- I live in Houston--moved here to go to law school--I'm actually in Galveston at my brother's place on the Strand--he's about to go to med school here.
I think some were in Mississippi a long time ago---but they were in Arkansas before the War of Northern Agression. We're descended from Thomas Jefferson Booth--a soldier in the glorious war for States Rights.
Dear Diane, I really do appreciate your response on my sos for Myrtle Norwood's obituary. It is great that there are some people out there who do respond . God Bless YOU and YOUR FAMILY! Sincerely, Belva Wainwright Spencer, Riverbank, CA. 95367-2605
Were any of your Booths in Alabama ? Sincerely, Belva PS i am going to forward this to a cousin of mine who descends from the Booths in Alabama.
Is Waldo also in Columbia County? I am still trying to find obituary on Myrtle Norwood who died the 21st. She died in Magnolia hospital but at one time a few years back lived in Waldo. Not sure where she was living(town) when she became ill and had to go to the hosptial in Magnolia! She is suppose to be buried in the Mulberry Cemetery in England(Lonoke County) Arkansas. So i am not real sure where to find her obituary? I thought in the place where she died? Belva
I am researching Parmers, VanPelts, Robinsons, Roberson, Robertson's, Autry's, Rogers, Billue, Sinclair, Garner, Meaness and a few others. My husband is searching Coe, Rose, Lewis, Sannar, Harris, Scott, Puderbaugh, Martin and several others. We both have a lot of names to search through. I don't know all the names yet as I am compiling a surname list still but if anyone would like me to check a particular cemetary in Columbia County while I am searching out the above names, let me know and I will do my best. Thanks, Cassie
I'm not really researching the Jones line, but I had a related Jones line. I think it was Pinckney Burr Jones who married one of my Mendenhall lines, possibly Sarah Gulley. Earlene Mendenhall Lyle
I have seen some of those names in the Nevada County cemetaries at rootsweb. I will be checking cemetaries in Columbia next chance I get. Cassie Ellen wrote: > I am on this list. I am researching the same areas but not the same names. I am looking for Parmers, VanPelts and Robinson's, Billues and a few other related families. Have you seen the Nevada County cemetaries online? I will be checking out Columbia County cemetaries the next opportunity I have to get to the library. I will try and take a list of your names so I can jot a note or two if I find something. GARRETT is one of my related names. If I'm remembering right, N. W. H. Garrett married my Margaret Mendenhall. They were from Ouachita County. Earlene Mendenhall Lyle
I've seen lotsof Wilson's in Cemetary records lately in AR. Interested? I'll let you know where. Well, I'm on this, also. My family names are mostly in the Hempstead and Nevada Counties, with the major ones being YATES, WOOD, DAVIS, BARCLAY, BATES, and lots of other associated names. My Yates and Davis lines were in the Waldo and Lamartine areas. For whoever listed Formby, my uncle Bryan Yates married a Formby. They lived, at the time, around Stamps. Earlene Mendenhall Lyle
My husband has Lewis names, not sure if they are AR or not. I will check and get back to you. No one has answered--at least to the Columbia County List--Belva's original question. Belva, Myrtle Norwood's obit is not in the online Banner News site. They are sometimes a little slow putting things out, but they do have a list of Monday's obits. Her name is not on that list. It is my understanding that they do not publish a newspaper on weekends. You might go to their website and post your request in the guestbook. I've had good luck with the editor of the paper responding via e-mail to questions I asked in a guestbook posting. URL is http://www.bannernews.net/news/ Good luck, Diane
I'm on the list too--researching Starnes, Riley, Hewett and Wilson. This is the most postings I've ever seen.
