Karen, I am not descended from the Reeves/Reaves family in Columbia County, but it is a related family. The widow and children of Jeremiah Reeves moved to Columbia County around 1855. Elizabeth Scroggins Reeves remarried D. J. Smith. Some of her children were Emaline (Emma), Susan, Mary, James, Joseph, Willliam Henry. Elizabeth Scroggins was the sister of Lucina Scroggins and Jacob Sanders Brazell (my great great grandparents), who moved to Columbia County in the mid 1850's from Harris County, GA. I thought the same thing myself until recently! Now I know different. I am desperately looking for BLACKMON information in Columbia County. My gggrandfather was G.W. (George Washington) Blackmon married Sarah Brawley. He was born about 1835 in GA and died about 1870 in Columbia County and is buried in a Waldo cemetary, probably in an unmarked grave. I know he was in CSA and owned land there. He was listed with his mother Elizabeth and a sibling (F.M.) in the 1860 census and another Blackmon family was also listed leading me to think they were probably relatives. Everyone seems to have dissappeared even though I know there are Blackmons living there now I can't seem to make a connection. After G.W. died Sarah brought the children to Texas but we have not been able to find out anything on the Blackmon line. Jan
