    1. Wilkins Family
    2. Hello to the List J. R. Wilkins b: 1888 (??in Louisiana) married in 1922 in Pike Co., AR, to Mary House, they had a daughter, Elizabeth Irene Wilkins born Apr. 1923, and he died in in Jan. 1924. The marriage and tombstone both only give his initials, J. R. I have found nothing to indicate his full name. I have two clues - 1. My husband, Elizabeth Irene's next younger 1/2 sibling, remembers his sister going to visit her "Wilkins" family in the Spring Hill area of Louisiana as a girl. He can't place this in his memory to an exact time, but she rode a bus alone, so it would most likley be the mid to late 1930s. 2. at sometime after 1950 and before 1976, probably as best a family member can date this, late 60s or early 70s, Elizabeth Irene was tracked to Virginia under her married name (Fitzgerald) by an oil company. She had to sign something and return it. In retrospect, this document had something to do with inherited land or mineral rights due her as an heir of J. R. Wilkins. As far as is known, no other contact was made by the oil company or the Wilkins family. My husband thinks the oil company was Gulf Oil...but not 100% sure. I just returned from a quick visit to Webster Parish, LA to do a limited search for Wilkins in that area. I found nothing posivite that was helpful. I checked the conveyances records using the Vendee and Vendor indexes looking for Wilkins or Fitzgerald to/from any Oil Co. I found nothing. I found the real estate tax assessments which were stored in a closet in the basement and I located f=tge books for two years, 1935 and 1939 and found no Wilkins at all for any ward in Webster Parish for either of these two years. Now I am wondering since Spring Hill is so close to Arkansas, could these Wilkins actually have been in Arkansas, perhaps either Lafayette or Columbia? Thanks for reading this lengthy message and please respond with your ideas or suggestions. Alice in Fluvanna Co., VA

    1. Claude Lane m. May Inez Dennis, 1904
    2. I would like to contact descendants of Claude Lane and May Inez Dennis, married in Columbia Co., AR on Dec. 15, 1904. I think they had one son, Roy Dennis Lane, b. about 1905. May Inez Dennis was my grandmother's sister. My aunt received a letter from her in the 1920's or 1930's, and she was living in Ft. Stockton, Texas at that time. I have a photograph of Inez when she was about 16 years old. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
