    2. That's very Possible Doris. The one named Almedia you found for me, causing me to buy the 1880 census, was hard enough to find, but this gal and the mother is hid good. They are probably the ones I see sometimes that are so dim or smeared that they cannot be read. Georgia came out of hiding about two years later ( Jan. 1882 ) and married William Everette Bass in Columbia County so I know she was around somewhere. Thanks for trying. I guess these two old gals are lost that year. Pete

    2. Your Dicey and Georgia Wilkerson must have been "running from the law". I can not pick them up in any fashion on the 1880 LDS Census CD. Will keep my eye out for the names as I am doing other research. Happy Easter Doris , Lookup Volunteer

    1. Re: Columbia County Website
    2. James. There actually is a precedence for this. In Indiana, there is a GenWeb site for a county. Well, something happened and most of the folks wanted another site with the old manager in charge. He set up one and with a mail list too, and I forget to even go to the GenWeb site. But I have to say, my Columbia Co folks came around 1900 to Magnolia, and they also moved down into Bossier Parish, mostly. I don't believe there are many that I don't know, of the Young family. We have a reunion every year, and all who are interested come to that. Having said that, I think it could be a good "Columbia Co Family History" site for just the things you mentioned. My older brother (70s) has been writing stories of our childhood, mostly the older kids as we are strung out over 25 yrs. He (and a cousin, in Springhill, Webster P. La, has joined in too), sends these stories to all of us that have computers. His spelling is terrible, and he leaves it that way. I do have to interpret for outsiders. We love them! He writes them like a real country boy would. I found out things that I never knew about my Daddy and grandpa, etc. Hunting, fishing, school, work, etc. I encourage everyone to do this. I will look for one I sent to a list in Indiana. Some wrote me that it reminded them of their own childhood during the depression. I had to edit it a bit. Carleen

    1. Columbia County Website
    2. I have entertained the idea of a site for Columbia County for some time. I know we have the USGENWEB site as do all the other counties have one and this list as well, but neither is satisfying our needs like they should. I am talking about a regular site that we could all visit and put in our family information, discuss info with each other, and any thing else we think would help each other as well as ourselves. I am mostly interested in Magnolia and the Philadelphia community down on Burnt Bridge Road, but I also have enough sense to know that these people moved from time to time across the Louisiana line and other parts of the county. We could start our own cemetery info section as well as church info and anything we thought could help each other. I think it would be fun as well as helpful to have a place to tell some of the stories as well as some of the histories of our families. When someone dies, they are not really gone as long as someone is left to tell about them and remember the things they did. When we are gone these people might as well have never lived. I would like to make a place where they could go on forever. Now, here comes the problem. When it comes to a website or making one, I am about as smart as a head of lettuce, and I am talking about the dumber type of lettuce. I know there is someone on this list that can help me do this or a couple of us could get it done. OK- how about it? 2. No, thats not her, but she was born about 1825 in Wilcox or Marengo County Alabama. Her husband died in Caddo Parish, La. in 1869 and in 1870 they are on the Caddo census. In the book Biographical memoirs of Southwesy Ark. there is an article on her brother John Wilkerson and it says his sister Dicey is in Bossier Parish. That was in 1890. Thanks for the try and I sure hope somebody finds her. Pete

    2. James, I looked at every Dicey, etc in Arkansas and Caddo Parish, LA. Here is the only one that comes anywhere near what you had. You did not tell me their ages, maybe that would help. I hope they are not using middle names! I did ck for any using just " D" Wilkerson/Wilson, etc. I checked every Dicey/Georgia in LA and AR. I can't find them either. I wonder if they took a turn over in Indian Terr? I don't have that census. There was no federal one, anyway. 1. 1880 Census
    2. Well, now it is time for me to ask for help. I can't find a trace of Dicey or Dicy Wilkerson on the 1880 Census. She should have at least one daughter in the house. Georgia Wilkerson was married to William Everette Bass in Columbis County in 1882 so should have still been at home in 1880. Dicey and family was in Caddo Parish, La. in 1870 listed as Wilsons. I can't find them in 1880 and need a small bit of help. James Peterson - Texarkana
