I am interested in any Parham or Dismukes names in cemeteries, marriage books, and/or census records. My grandfather was Warren Jack Parham who married Pinkie Eugenia Dismukes in Columbia County, AR. His dad was John Raymond Parham and his dad was John Steth Parham. I can't seem to find a date when they arrived in Columbia County, although they are buried there in Barlow Cemetery. Pinkie's dad was Paul Thompson Dismukes who married Alice Matlida Kendrick. Can't find when he moved to Columbia County, either. Any information on these families would be appreciated. Thanks, Linda Parham Bamburg

I have Jeremiah's will. He died in Harris Co. Ga. on 17 June 1853. And yes I know who his children were. Thats why I was looking for his son W.H. Reeves. I don't know a lot about them but with your help & putting our stuff together I'm sure we will know a lot more in a little while. That is undoubtedly his widow Elizabeth who married Daniel Smith. I'm going to the library tomorrow & find them all in the 1880 census. We have all the Ark census locally plus 1880 sound-x.There is another lady researching the Scroggins side because she descends from Lucinda Scroggins Brazzell who was Elizabeth's sister. We'll all get our heads together & see what we come up with..Later, Othilla ----- Original Message ----- From: weaver To: othilla thompson Sent: Monday, April 01, 2002 7:04 PM Subject: Re: W.H.Reeves Hi, Did you get the address of Lewis Funeral Home, 420 N. Jackson, Magnolia 71753, Ph: 870/234-1010. They have been owned by the Lewis family since 1904. Also - I have collected some information that connects with the Reeves, Smarts, Scroggins, Morelands, etc. That is how I knew you might want Elizabeth W. & Daniel Jackson Smith's dates in Shiloh. My maternal grandmother was Addie Perry Polk, d/o Casrulle Hilliard Perry & his first wife, Mary Anna Scroggins. Cas Perry's sister, Louisa Jane Perry m. (1) John Samuel Smith, s/o Daniel J. Smith & first wife. Emma S. Reeves, d/o Jeremiah & Elizabeth, m. W. Frank Moreland abt 1868, then after his death she m. W. A. Cloud on 13 Mar 1886 in Columbia Co. All are buried in Shiloh Cemetery. We probably connect on several others also. My Perry family lived in the Bethel Community northwest of Lamartine. Louisa and John Samuel Smith & his mother plus Louisa's second husband, Thomas Callicott, along with some of Smith & Callicott children are buried on farmland near Bethel and near the Columbia Co/Nevada Co line. Do you know where Jeremiah Reeves is buried? GOODSPEED, Columbia Co, p. 507, has information on Daniel Jackson Smith & Elizabeth W. Do you have information on all of Jeremiah's children? Hope this does not confuse you further. Pat Weaver othilla thompson wrote: To Pat Weaver, Magnolia, Ar. Bill, I found two TYE families on the AR 1880 census. If neither are your family, let me know and I will search some more. Tell me their birth dates, at least the year, if you know. There were no Gees in Columbia, however there are some in Nevada, Hempstead, and Union Cos. I could not find the Boswells in AR. Do you know the State where they could have gone? I looked for them separately. Carleen Census Place: Jackson, Boone, Arkansas Source: FHL Film 1254039 National Archives Film T9-0039 Page 503A Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace John S. I am new to the Columbia County website. Does anyone out there have any information concerning the Tye/Gee/Boswell families of Columbia County? The 1860 census shows these three families living there at that time. My gggrandmother, Mary Gee, was married to my gggrandfather, John Henry Tye. Their daughter, Selitha Tye, who was nine years old in 1860, married my ggrandfather, Benjamin Boswell, in 1866. If anyone has any information about about these families, particularly Mary Gee's parents, I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thank you, Bill E. Miller
Doris, Could you please check your records to see if you have any marriage records for an Ellen Lee Ferguson born 1886. She married (supposedly) a Tom/Thomas Branch first then William E (W.E.) Dempsey. Thank you! Stephanie Ferguson Warren
May I please offer a couple of suggestions when requesting a lookup from any volunteer on any mail list-- Be specific on what information you are asking for, "death date of Sam Jones in Waterloo County, AR" or "marriage of Sam Jones in Waterloo County, AR abt 1850-1860", "burial place of Sam Jones in Waterloo County, AR. His wife was Sallie". And it doesn't hurt to add the race of the person you are searching. It's amazing how many black and white JONES (or most other surnames) you can find in any County in Arkansas. Give the volunteer several days to get back to you with what information they have been able to locate. Remeber that you are not the only one who has sent a request, and your county mailing list probably is not the only county in which they perform the same service for others. Most volunteers are very busy folks and spend little time on research for themselves. Just help us as much as possible without sending your entire family tree. Thanks Doris Lindblad Lookup Volunteer

Thank you Doris, The men, very well, may have married after that date. I once found a Laura Young who m a Samuel Looper in Indian Territory, right abt the right time too. AND their only son, who I knew, was born in IT. But the problem was, another family claimed him, and had Laura living on AFTER I know ours died. Our Laura died right after her son was born. Before 1900c. I lost all that information abt the other Loopers when my 1st computer went to heaven. :) I think I will do a search and see if I can find it again. Maybe they are the ones who have claimed the wrong Laura and Sam! Carleen
Carleen, I find a Laura Ann YOUNG, 18, to John BARRY, 21, on 23 dec 1886 by J. M. Merritt, JP. But no Laura to Sam LOOPER Did not locate anything on the other three. Maybe the marriages were later than 1899. Do you have any timeframe? Doris

Her family was originally from SC via GA and AR. I suspect she still had some family there and have not had much trouble finding Plunketts on the Census. Moorhead escapes me. I find Charles Wesley for the first time in 1900 in Hunt Co., TX with his wife and 3 of their children and 2 nephews and a niece ( Albert and John H. and Dara or Dona -hard to read). Albert Davis was born in AR in 4/1886 and John H. was born in MS 10/1888. Dona or Dara was born 10/1884 in AR. They are Charles' niece and Nephews so I guess he had sister married to a Davis. Help? Oh Nancy was his second wife. I only know the name of one son by the first wife and do not have her name. He was Charles Wesley Jr. I know of one daughter by him, Pearl and Nancy and Charles raised her with my grandfather and his siblings. Thanks Dawn >>

I just became the new List Manager (aka the "List Mom") last night. There has been a great deal of activity on this mailing list recently -- and there are people new to the list who are posting messages. I ask that everyone be polite when someone makes a mistake -- and let me handle things behind the scenes, as needed. Thanks so much for the people who are providing lookup services for other subscribers. I live in Montana and have received a lot of information on my family lines from many kind people. (Previous to my generation, my family was in Columbia County, AR for 150+ years -- so if you are not my direct relative, we probably have relatives in common!!!) I've set up messages to be displayed at the end of each posting. (There are 10 rotating messages.) These messages give the instructions for subscribing and unsubscribing to both the list and digest modes, in addition to the URLs for archived messages from the ARCOLUMB mailing list. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help this mailing list continue to be a great genealogical resource.
