He was a Columbia County native. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Macedonia Baptist Church by Rev. Farrell White and Rev. Jimmie Henry. Burial will be at the church cemetery by Lewis Funeral Home.) is my maternal grandfather. We called him "Grandaddy Williamson". His brother Ervin Delmar Williamson (Uncle Ervin) and Uncle Ervin's wife Aunt Ethel, and their son C.W. Williamson often visited in our home and were a close part of our extended family. My mother is Ira Lee Williamson's youngest child, Mona Faye Williamson (she married Emory Nathan Atkinson, Jr., Magnolia, Columbia County, Arkansas, died 7-13-87, and is buried, with our father, at Friendship [Magnolia Township] Cemetery, of that city and county; Mother has 4 children, me, the oldest, Lanelle Faye Atkinson Purdy, David Edward Atkinson, Teresa Ann Atkinson Hughes, Allen Nathan Atkinson, all living). Ira Lee Williamson's oldest child is Cleolis Aline Williamson (born 11-9-25, died 1-21-03; married Jerrell P. Green; both ! buried at Stephens Cemetery, Ouachita County, Arkansas; no children). The other child is Walter Henry Williamson (born 9-9-28, died 11-12-11; buried in Friendship [Magnolia Township] Cemetery, Magnolia, Columbia County, Arkansas; two daughters, Martha Williamson Wise and Amy Williamson, both living). Grandaddy Williamson's obituary references a half-brother Jodie Caldwell, of Shreveport, LA. Before he died my dad took me on a driving tour of the area around his and my mother's home off the Taylor Highway, outside of Magnolia, Arkansas, headed toward Taylor, AR, and Springhill, LA, and pointed out the wooded area, clearly an old "home place", where I understood that Grandaddy Williamson and Uncle Ervin lived as young boys. I don't recall details, but it seems that he mentioned their mother's dying and their becoming orphans, but I am probably inaccurate. My youngest sibling, Allen Atkinson, is the family historian, having had the privilege of spending "one-on-one" time with our parents, after the 3 older siblings married and left home. He knows facts of what I am trying to recall. My siblings and I are working to create family history, for ourselves, our children, grandchildren, etc., but we let pas the opportunity to learn from our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncl! es, etc., so we are forever missing facts and stories. I/we will appreciate hearing from whoever is searching for the Williamson family history, because that is the part of our family tree that is sparse with information. We know our maternal grandmother's (Ira Lee's first wife and the mother of his 3 children) family and our father's maternal and paternal families, but Grandaddy Williamson's family history is missing. We will appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with anyone researching that side of the family, as we work to create our family tree. Thank you. Saddest day of my life. I traveled with him many times to visit family in Magnolia, Arkansas. His brother and sister, which I knew as Aunt Eunice and Uncle Archie lived there, along with numerous cousins, one being Travis. We also visited family in the Dallas/Mesquite, Texas area as well as Aberdeen and Sherman, Texas. He also had another brother who passed on at a young age before I was born. He served in the U.S. Air Force and participated in the Berlin Airlift after Russia built the Berlin Wall. While stationed in Liverpool, England he met and married my grandmother Hillary and my father, Robert James Dodson was born there before they returned to the US, being stationed at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama. Settling down in Montgomery they also had my aunt, Lynn Dodson. He retired from the Air Force and then began a career with the US Postal Service from which he also retired from in the! early 1980s. I called him PauPa and not a day goes by that I do not remember fond memories of the greatest man I ever have known. He is buried by his mother & father as well as many other family members in Magnolia, Arkansas. Ok, my Annie was born earlier, somewhere around 1825-1830 according to census records...however...I have been digging through some of your ancestry records and some of them are the same people I have...also you mention Fosters...did any of your family ever migrate to Texas? I have Fosters (Robert, Susan, Mary, Addie) with my Reeds (that would have been Nancy Herron's husband and children) in the 1880's. My Nancy shows on the census records as being married to a Martin Luther Reid who is 40 years older than her for a couple decades. He died, I believe, in Texas. However, all of Nancy's children's death certificate list their fathers name as Jim or James Reed so I do not think Martin is their father. A couple of them list their mothers name as Mary Anderson rather than Nancy Herron as well. In 1870, Nancy lived in Falcon, Nevada, Arkansas next door to a Annie Herron, who I believe to be her mother. It is possible my Annie remarried and had m! ore children. The youngest child from her first marriage to Edmond Herron was born in 1861 as far as I can tell. Have you looked through my ancestry records on Anna Herron and Nancy Herron? I think maybe we are missing the mark on Anna because of the birthdate disparity but I still think these families tie together. Will keep investigating! Very interesting. I have seen the Foster name around my Reeds, and also Lorenzo Reed. In my records, Eligah J is the son of Anna/Annie Herron and has a sister names Sarah/Sally. They must be connected but I can't wrap my hear around it! "We have been told that Elijah Herron may have been an uncle either to my great grandmother Barbara or her mother Sarah Herron Foster. we had a land grant presented to Elijah J Herron by President Grover Cleveland. I do not have this anymore as all our family records disappeared after the death of my great aunt. This area of the family is very difficult to trace as they change names frequently. In 1880 in Taylor,Arkansas the census shows Annie Herron living with her son John B. Herron her daughter Sallie AKA Sarah Herron and her granddaughter Barbara Herron. Barbara was my great grandmother. When she married my great grandfather she had changed her last name to Adkins and stated the her fathers name was William Adkins. Yet at 2 years old her name was Herron. I have seen Lorenzo around the Herron family but I do not know the connection." Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Here is what I know about mine: she lived in Coffee County in 1850-1870. She was married to an Edmond Herron, who is seemingly untraceable...I think he died in the Civil War when they lived in Alabama...around 1870 I find her living as head of household in Falcon, Alabama Township, Columbia, Arkansas with her many children, including Sarah A, Sophronia (married a Beardan), Elija (m.Cora Bearden), and James. Her other daughter Nancy married a Reed so that may be where "Lorenzo" comes from. It is possible she remarried somewhere between 1860-1870 as she is absolutely untraceable to me after 1880, and the rest of the children by that time had mostly married off and gone seperate ways as far as I can tell. Do you think we have the same Annie? If so I will give you everything I know! Where is your Annie in 1880? Laura Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
