Hi. I need information on the family of William Butler, born ca 1821 possibly in Georgia; I believe he was married first to Martha (Barker) b ca 1827 possibly in Georgia. Among their children are Rebecca or Richmond, Isaac b ca 1852 and Matilda. I found William and Martha on the 1860 census for Columbia county; it gives both their places of birth as Georgia. By 1870, however, Martha is gone and instead Manerva is listed; I assume she's a 2nd wife, with Martha having died. There are 2 additional children also, William Jr. and Martha. William and Manerva are still in Columbia county as of the 1880 census. William is gone by 1900, I think. I think I found William Jr. on the 1900 census w/widowed mother this time listed as Mary, and 2 sisters in the home. I'd really like to hear from anyone working on/descended from William Butler. Does anyone have proof of the births of his children, a will for William or his wife? Know where he and family are buried? Have record of his land transactions? Other? I have a Isaac Newton Butler who was born 1852 possibly in Mississippi who married in Grayson county, Texas in 1874 to Buena Vista Hightower; he's on the 1880 Montague county, TX census w/family, again there in 1900 and 1910. He died there in 1919 and Buena died in 1925. I have Isaac's death certificate giving his parents as William Butler (born supposedly Tenn) and Martha Barker (born supposedly Miss). I have tried tracking Isaac back to his parents, being with them, etc. I have a few possibles for him but theorize he and Isaac son of the William/Martha of Columbia county are one and the same. Anyone know? Descend from this family? Hope to hear back from you. Thank you in advance for your time and any help you can give me. Sincerely, Pavla Chandler P.S. Is there anyone out there with access to looking at the earliest Columbia county death records or who would be willing to for me? For William, Martha, Minerva, etc? I would not mind covering a reasonable fee, if necessary. _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live⢠Contacts: Organize your contact list. http://windowslive.com/connect/post/marcusatmicrosoft.spaces.live.com-Blog-cns!503D1D86EBB2B53C!2285.entry?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_UGC_Contacts_032009

Since he isn't directly related to me, I haven't tried to research him or his family. Sorry I can't be of more assistance to you in your search. There was a John Reed w/wife, Rebecca, and son, William, on the 1850 Van Buren Twsp, Union Co., AR census record. Robert B. Reed and his family were also enumerated in the same census and they may have been living next door to each other. John was 23 and Robert was 41, so they may have been father/son. I wish you luck in your research efforts. Vickie Rushton Bickle Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
