    2. Eagle Creek Post Office was located approximately 1 1/2 miles east of New Edinburgh in present day Cleveland County. It was also Know as the Washburn place. In 1850 it was in the Warren Township of Bradley County, near or in the home of James McDaniel. James McDaniel was at one time the postmaster of Eagle Creek and Eagle Creek continued to be a post office until the town of New Edinburgh was plated in the early 1860's. There were other recruiting locations in present day Cleveland County: Mark's Mill, Mt. Elba and Lehi. Just north of what is today known as Holmes Special, in Jefferson County was Locust Cottage.
