Ar Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Cleveland/79 Surname: Robert Ford, Bernice MacDaniel, Esther Britt ------------------------- I am researching my Husband's Mothers family. In the 1900 Cleveland, Saline Twnshp. census there is a Robert Ford, Wife Bernice, children Charley A., John Warren, Mary Allie, Mariot Callie (twins). Later my husband's mother was born, Ida Virginia (1901), and I think another daughter, Ollie. Bernice died in 1903. Robert married again to Esther Britt and had several children more. Robert died 1937 in Marvell, Phillips Co., AR. Ida married Roy Monroe Davis, b 1895 IL, and moved to IL. Are there any connections out there?

    3. I thought this site might be interesting for some of you genealogists. I copied it from the Arkansas County List. Diane I'm probably the last to know about the following site, but I think anyone researching in Arkansas should visit it. http://www.livgenmi.com/1895ar The address doesn't give any hint of the things you'll find, especially if you're working in Arkansas ca. 1895. For a description of what is available on the site, try this page: http://www.livgenmi.com/1895userinfo.htm This site apparently has data for _any state_ that was in the Union in 1895; all data derived from a rescued 1895 atlas. I've not checked the other states yet (except for Marshall Co, MS), but if they are anything like the Arkansas pages, I may be on line at this site for years to come! <BG> The maps are in a beautiful old color style, showing communities in Arkansas that no longer exist on my modern maps. I love "Surrounded Hill" in Prairie Co, I believe it was. If you don't know the county for your town of interest, there's a listing that will help you with that. It's called Index to City & Town Data, and the categories of information are: City or Town Name - Population - Area of State - Has Post Office? - Has Railroad? - Has Express Office? This information is all based on this 1895 atlas. Don't get impatient if it takes a minute or two to bring up the maps--it's worth the wait. Let me know if anyone else found it interesting and helpful. Delores [email protected]

    3. Ark. Gazette September 25, 1904, Monticello - After a trial lasting four days the jury brought in a verdict of acquittal in the case of the State of Arkansas vs. John Kight, indicted for killing Judge Sam T. Morgan of Cleveland County, last February. The case was brought to this county from Cleveland on a change of venue and has aroused a great deal of interest in this section of the state. About 50 witnesses testified in the case. It will be remembered that Judge Morgan and his brother Henry were both killed at the same time. The theory of the defense was that the shooting of Judge Morgan was accidental, that Kight was shooting at Frank Knickerbocker, and that he had a right under the law to kill Knickerbocker. The state was represented by Hons. W. S. Amis and W. J. Stanfield of Rison, J. G. Williamson and C. T. Cothan of this city, and the defense was represented by Hons. Sam M. Taylor of Pine Bluff, W. S. Goodwin of Warren, E. A. Gibson of Rison, and James R. Cotham and Patrick Henry of this city. Jann __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
