hi Wilkie, I think we have talked on the Bradley County List, but here goes :) My husband is Bill Blankenship, s.o. John Franklin Blankenship, who is the s.o. Stephen Reuben Blankenship from Coosa County, Alabama. Stephen Reuben is the great grandson of Reuben Blankenship from Virginia who fought in Revolutionary War. Stephen's grandmother, Milley Thompson Blankenship, was a Cherokee woman closely related to the Cherokee Grants, Thompsons, Fields, and Bushyheads. It has been quite an adventure trying to untangle the snarl of Cherokee and Chowtaw relations. There have been some long lost Native American relatives in Alabama and Georgia that have been wonderful help. What is kinda funny, is that we had suspected NA blood on Bill's mother's side, but had no idea of his father's NA relatives. Sure I would add that and a few others that I have that I believe would also have been taken in Cleveland Co. They are starting to fall apart tho. Jayne, You want pictures of now? Or pictures of the past? If the past, someone will need to send me some. All I have not already added, are a few in an old Herald. I can scan and add them. Anyone with good pics can either scan and send the file to me, or if they trust me, they can send me the pic, I will scan and return asap. You assume correctly. Orlando was in the southern part of Cleveland County, almost on the Bradley line. Would you like to add that pic to the website? Hmm? Thank you so much, Belinda. I am VERY interested! I copy and paste the obits to the notes section in my family treemaker. Keep up the good work! Patricia, Howdy neighbor. I live in Rison. :) I have had the same experience in research. Most of what I have was obtained from others who had done lots of "leg work" and very little from websites. That is one reason why I am trying to add as much to the county site as possible. I know of one person who lives in GA, who has obtained most of what he has by using his computer. I've even taken pictures of cemeteries for him. It can be a great tool, if you know how to go about it. Since I want others to be able to find what they need easily, I add as much as people will share to the website. Eventually, I'd like to have all the census records on there, or at least the index to them, as well as marriage records. I don't have ready access to will records, so if I am ever able to add those, it will be when I am able to retire and work on it exclusively. :) If anyone would like to help in entering data to add, please PLEASE let me know. There is so much that can be added, and I am only one person. Still, let me say that I very much enjoy doing it and am so pleased when it helps even one person. Thanks, I don't believe I have posted anything to this list yet. So I will introduce myself. I live in Sheridan, Grant County, AR with my family. My husband is a decendant of Bev Graves and Dr. Barnett of Cleveland County. My sisters and I have been working on our family trees for about 1 year. I have learned more from fellow rooters than from all books and websites combined. Everyone has been amazingly generous with their time and their gedcom files. :)) Thank goodness. Anyway, nice to meet you all.
