    3. Pat, Since I have already posted what there is from the Cleveland County Herald up to the year 1929, I'll check when I get time and see if there is anything in 1934. Good luck with the other two from the Gazette, Eage Demcrat, or any other paper. :) Belinda ----- Original Message ----- From: <Kittyink@aol.com> To: <ARCLEVEL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 27, 2000 6:25 PM Subject: [ARCLEVEL] Holderfield in Cleveland County Cemetery Book > Mae Ashcraft has found some Holderfields that she would like to have looked > up for us if possible. > > C. 1. [ARCLEVEL] Special request
    2. C.R.Simmons
    3. Hello, I have been on this list for a while, lurking mostly and responding privately to some when I have info to share. But now I have a special request that I need some one on this list to help me with. I would like some one to mail me about a half cup of soil from the area. Please let me explain why. I have been researching my family for nearly 20 years. Some of my ancestors were enslaved in several Arkansas Counties (sorry for posting on several lists). In November I am traveling to Ghana, West Africa. While there my sister and I will be visiting the slave castles where African men and women were penned until they were shipped off to the Americas. I plan to honor my ancestors by taking dirt from all the places they toiled and mixing it with African soil and then throwing it in the ocean. I will also bring back African soil and keep it mixed with the soil from America. While this may seem silly to some of you, it is very important to me. I may never be able to find my immigrant ancestors, at least not the ones from Africa. This is my way of paying tribute to those who suffered and scrificed so that my family and I can live a comfortable life. If you will be willing to help me, please repond privately as not to clog the list, and I can arrange to send you postage or something. Thanks in advance for your help. Cristal Simmons Chicago

    3. Sent a query last night about my Lee\Lindsey line and have already got two replies. Thanks, the information has been very helpful. I have written Mrs. Garner Lindsey once a year or so back and never got a reply. Jonna Lee married Robert Lindsey, but not sure that the R.G. Lindsey buried at Harlow Cemetery is her husband as I do not know his middle name. I found the Toledo Community on an online map. It has been told that Joanna was living with one of her sons when a tornado struck, destroying the house and leaving Joanna sitting in her rocking chair unharmed. Thanks again for the information. Carlton

    3. New to the list. SURNAMES: LEE & LINDSEY Looking for the burial places of Joanna "Lee" Lindsey and Malissa "Lindsey" Lee. Joanna Lee married Robert Lindsey and they lived in Cleveland County. Robert Lindsey's parents are Hyder Lindsey and Polly Barbee. I understand that Joanna had a grandson by the name of Swanson Lindsey who operated a store in Cleveland County. Also that the Lindsey Cemetery was near the store. Malissa "Lindsey" Lee is the mother of Joanna "Lee" Lindsey. Malissa was living in Drew County and when her husband died (Joel Lee) she moved to Cleveland County. Joanna is my gg great aunt and Malissa is my gg grandmother. Would appreciate any information about them and their families. Carlton

    1. [ARCLEVEL] Frances Childers
    2. Dora, I have been trying for over twenty years to connect Frances Childers to some Childers family. The way you group the other siblings together with Frances implies that she is also a sibling. If you have any proof, evidence, or hint that this could be so, please post it. The only connection that I have been able to make is that they all came from Perry Co., AL and went to Cherokee Co., AL about the same time. No one that I have ever contacted in the Greenville, Gilford, Sarah, and William Childers family has any record of them having a sister named Frances. Please tell us why you group them together. It would be very nice to finally connect Frances Childers with some other family Thanks, Wynell In a message dated 8/16/00 8:36:24 AM Pacific Daylight Time, ARCLEVEL-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: << -------------------- X-Message: #1 Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2000 14:04:13 -0700 From: "John and Dora Atkins" <jatkins@laplaza.org> To: ARCLEVEL-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <007901c006fc$74bf6740$4a4897cc@computer> Subject: [ARCLEVEL] Childers Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Hi ! 3. From Wilkie --- "Howdy, Linda Gray Trujillo. So good to hear from you. You go quiet for weeks and weeks and then unexpectedly you show up again. We need you to hang in there with us Fordyce people. There are so very few of us. Is this Easterling Book at Clayton one on the Bradley & Dallas county folks???" Howdy to you too. Too busy with grandchildren to do much. All in school now and I have my days back. Yes I believe that the Easterling book to be on the ones from Bradley and Dallas County folks. I really have not done much research on this line. I made a mistake in the lines. Ralph Meece Chiders was son of Joel Green Childers m. Nancy Elizabeth Smith (My daughter is named after her.) Joel was son of George Smith Childers and Lucinda Easterling. I have some Easterling that married into my SHOOK line. When you get back to Clayton Library, holler at me. Would like to meet you. 3. Hi! There were Easterlings intermarried with my Gresham line through the Greens, I think. William Henry Gresham's daughter, Florence Della, married Jonathan Green. Their daughter, Mary, married Vernon Easterling. I remember Easterlings when growing up in Fordyce, but I am too old to remember what I remember! Thanks so much for the added info on the Greenville Childers line.
