First, I have a Mr.Holcomb who married into the Barnwell family. Most of the family came to Clay County, Arkansas from Tenn., but I am not sure if Nancy P. Barnwell and this Mr. Holcomb did. However, if you would like a ccopy of your Henry Holcomb's signature, just get the 1880 Clay County census. He was the enumerator for the area around Piggott-St.Francis (old name Chalk Bluff). His signature and each of the families names are in his handwriting. Wait, I just found something. In the 1880 census of Chalk Bluff Township (NE of Piggott), there is a listing of 69 year old Mary Merideth (born in Tenn.) living with son James Barnwell, 27 years of age (born in Tenn), and grandson Luther Holcomb, age 7 (born in Ark). She is said to be widowed in 1880, with parents being both born in North Carolina. What is interesting to me is that this James Barnwell may be a relative of mine, as the neighbors of the Meridith woman are related as my great great great aunt. I haven't been able to find out if this Barnwell is mine or not,as it is a common name in the area. I hope this helps you in your search. Let me know if I can be of further help to you. Mitch Lutzke
