The Piggott Times, Sept. 6, 1989 Roy BLACKWELL was born May 23, 1916 in Rector, and died Sept. 2, 1989 at the age of 73 years. He was a lifelong resident of Piggott area and worked in farming for most of his life. He was untied in marriage to Dollie Irene MATCHETT in 1935. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Sarah Alice KEESLEY BLACKWELL, his wife Dollie, one daughter, Violet, three brothers, two sisters, and one granddaughter in 1980. Survivors include one daughter Lessie Marie BLACKWELL CULVER of Pollard; one foster son, Jerry VAN WINTERS of Piggott; two sisters, Audie CRAFT of Quilin and Bessie POLLARD of Pollard; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were at 2 pm Sunday, Sept. 3, in the Piggott Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Ben TURNER and Rev. Gary HANCOCK officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery near Pollard with Piggott Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Jerry VAN WINTERS, Jr., Kenny VAN WINTERS, Henry FOREST, Ricky CULVER, David CULVER and Loran JOHNSON.
