October 31, 1908 Corning Courier Girl is Found Dead. Lena Cook, a young woman 18 years of age, was found dead in her room at the home of Dr. J. J. Johnson at Biggers Tuesday. When last seen, a few minutes before death, she was apparently in good health. Strychnine, self-administered, is said to have been the cause of her death. She was an orphan and disappointment over a love affair is thought to have been the cause of her taking poison.
