    3. Hello, Indexes Unlimited just uploaded a new Arkansas book index. It is: Arkansas 1911 census of Confederate veterans, transcribed and edited by Bobbie J. McLane and Capitola Glazner. 3 volumes (a total of approx. 600 pages). In 1911 Arkansas took a census of Confederate veterans, and had them fill out very complete forms about their ancestors (usually going back at least two generations) including maiden names of mother and grandmother, as well as locations the family lived at. It also usually listed the veteran's spouse, and her parents names, and his children and their spouses. It frequently detailed where they enlisted, who they served with, and often battles they fought in, any injuries, and sometimes even comrades names who died in different conflicts and who their teachers were growing up! This is an excellent resource for anyone doing research in the south. The index is a Surname only index, but it is a great place to start. Hope you come and check out this and the other great book indexes in our library. Chris Fowler Indexes Unlimited http://www.eburg.com/~fowlerc/browse.html
