June 4, 1910 Child Dies From Effects Of Drinking Coal Oil ============================================ While Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cox, who reside near Brookings, were in Corning Tuesday of last week attending the preliminary trial of Fred McGuy, their little 14-months-old son, Floyd, drank a quantity of coal oil, and from the effects of it died the next evening. The oil was in a can which had been used in starting the fire in a stove and was setting on the floor, when little Floyd drank the contents. Everything possible was done for the little sufferer, but to no avail, and Thursday evening the little body was laid to rest in the Brookings cemetery. Mrs. Cox is a sister of Mrs. J. W. Adcock of this city.
