PERSHING VA Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, August 4, 2007. He was 70. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a lifelong resident of Butler and Ripley Counties and a carpenter by trade. September 12, 1981 he married Brenda LANE SPENCER and she survives. FRANKLIN HANCE, SR. Franlin HANCE, Sr., Lenexa, KS was born Sept. 14, 1931 in Peach Orchard, son of Clarence and Hazel HANCE. He died Friday, April 6, 2007 in Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He was 75. At age 16 he joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea with the 2nd Infantry Division where he earned a Silver Star in the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge. He also served in Vietnam with the 1st. Cavalry Division and fought in the Battle of Ia Drang Valley with the 7th Cavalry. He retired from the Army in 1974 as a Command Sergeant Major with 26 years service with the Silver Star, five Bronze Stars, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman's Badge and other awards. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service since 1983. He married Letha PEMBERTON April 22, 1952 in Datto. Survivors include his wife, Letha HANCE of the home; three sons, Franklin (Donna) HANCE, Jr., Milton, VT, Clarence Allen (Peggy) HANCE, Olathe, KS, Terry (David) SAUNDERS SAUNDERS, Olathe, KS; one sister Betty BROWNFEL, Corning; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. SHIRLEY ANN WHITE Shirley Ann WHITE, Delaplaine was born February 28, 1959 in Granite City, IL to Earl Junior LOYD and JoAnn LOWE PRUITT. She died in St. Bernard's Medical Center, Jonesboro, April 8, 2007. She was 48. A certified nurse's aides in a nursing home, she was affiliated with New Life Temple Pentecostal Church, Paragould. June 4, 1983 she married Charles Samuel WHITE, Jr. and he survives. MINNIE MARVEL Minnie E. MARVEL was born July 11, 1940 in Poplar Bluff, MO daughter of Edward R. and Juanita SCOFIELD PIERCE. She died in Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center April 1, 2007. She was 66. A homemaker and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, she was a lifelong resident of Butler County. She married James MARVEL who preceded her in death in 1963. DEWAYNE ROBERTSON Dewayne Lee ROBERTSON, Poplar Bluff, MO. was born in Streator, IL, June 29, 1954 to Evert and Edith BLAND ROBERTSON. He died in Westwood Hill Healthcare Center, Poplar Bluff Saturday, March 31, 2007. He was 52. A retired high school teacher of Naylor Public School System, he was a member of Twin Springs Baptist Church and Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include one sister Pauline RISENHOOVER, North Little Rock; special friends the HAGER family, Liz HAGER and Richard WRIGHT; nieces, nephews, students and faculty and a host of friends. He died in Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center April 9, 2007. He was 54. A third degree mason, he served in many positions with Corning Masonic Lodge #719. He was a former police officier of Corning Police Department and had been employed at Corning Publishing Company for many years and more recently at Hart Manufacturing. He was of the Baptist faith. He collected Nascar memorabilia and liked deer hunting. February 10, 2001 he married Donna Faye PIPKIN STOW and she survives. Burial under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home. SYLVIA COMPANIOTTE Sylvia S. COMPANIOTTE was born in Knobel Nov. 9, 1913, daughter of James L. and Mary Ellen VINCENT SMITH. She died Friday, March 23, 2007 in Lady Lake, Florida. She was 93. A graduate of Corning High School and Arkansas State University, she began teaching school in Knobel in 1934, also teaching at Allbright School and Neelyville Elementary where she retired in 1977 with a total of 43 years of teaching. She was active in music and volunteer programs in several area United Methodist Churches and was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Fruitland, Florida. Survivors are two children, James L. SCHIMMING, Lady Lake, FL, and Mary Beverly WRIGHT, Oceanside, CA.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Fred SCHIMMING, Sr. who she married in Nov. 1935. He died April 13, 1968. She married Ewell CAMPANIOTTE August 10, 1974 and he died June 1985. She was also prceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Homer, Mark, Joseph, James and Vernon SMITH; three sisters Effie ATOR, Viola STARR, and Mary Ellen STARR; one grandson Craig WRIGHT. He died in his home in Jonesboro March 25, 2007. He was 67. A retired businessman, he was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church and was a veteral of the National Guard. Survivors include three brothers, Charles ROREX, Farmington, MO, Don ROREX and Carrol ROREX both of Walnut Ridge; four sisters, Frances WATKINS, Broken Arrow, OK, Mary OSBORN, Cocoa, FL, Shirley LEBLANC, Hoxie and Janice LYKINS, Gravette.
