MARTHA SPENCE Martha Dean SPENCE, a resident of Gerald, MO, born Dec. 8, 1929 in Corning, daughter of Emil Karl and Ernida Pauline BIBB HARTWIG. She died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 in St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood, MO. She was 77 She was united in marriage on Feb. 21, 1947 in Arkansas to Calvin Coolidge SPENCE, who preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2005. A graduate of Corning High School, she received her undergraduate degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. She began her teaching career in a one-room school house in Arkansas at age 17 and taught at schools in Senath; four other Missouri school districts until her retirement in 1985 A memeber of the Boeuff Presbyterian Church in Gerald, she was a member of the Missouri National Education Association. Survivors include two sons, Gregory Scott (Natalie) SPENCE, St. Louis and Calvin Coolidge (Janice) SPENCE, Jr., Leawood, Kansas; one daughter, Judith Ann (L.J.) SIMMONS, Derby, Kansas; five grandchildren, Keith SPENCE, Ashley SPENCE, Chelsea SPENCE, Cameron SPENCE and Carter SPENCE; one sister, Norma Jean HAAG of Creve Coeur and one brother, Sterling Lee HARTWIG of El Dorado. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 in Gerald, MO. Burial in the Boeuff Presbyterian Cemetery, Gerald. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. DELORES LUEBKE Delores LUEBKE was born March 1, 1929 in DeValls Bluff, daughter of George W. SCOTT and Ollie M. TAYLOR SCOTT. She died Thursday Feb. 22, 2007 in her home in Scott. She was 77. An artist and collector of dolls, she was a member of First Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl "Bud" LUEBKE; her son, Johnnie; and sister, Billie Jo SCOTT. She died in Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center Feb. 20, 2007. She was 75. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Harviell and a nursing home employee. Survivors are three sons, Clifton LUNSFORD, Johnston City, IL, Gary LUNSFORD and Ken LUNSFORD both of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Beverly LUNSFORD, Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Sylvia TEASLEY and Martha TEASLEY both of Corning. LILES, Godfrey, IL was born in Jerseyville, IL, Oct. 26, 1931 to Thomas and Ruby GROSS LILES. He died in Alton Memorial Hospital Feb. 19, 2007. He was 75. He was a member of Godfrey Church of Christ and retired from the Mold Shop at Owens, IL. He married the former Lataua KIMBLE, Dec. 24, 1960. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Karth ROTH, Godfrey, IL and Janis LILES, Sarasota, FL; two grandchildren, London GEORGE and Megan LILES both of Godfrey; two aunts, Edna SAWTELL, Carlinville, IL and Betty RINTOUL, Naperville, IL. He was reared by his grandparents and ten aunts and uncles who were like brothers and sisters to him. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Peg LILES. Funeral services Friday Feb. 23, 2007 in Jerseyville Church of Christ with James LAMPLY officiating. Services in a local funeral home chapel Sunday, Feb. 25 with burial in Corning Cemetery. BESSIE HIGHLEY Bessie Evelyn HIGHLEY was born March 14, 1914 in Island, KY to Clark and Ada VINSON. She died Feb. 26, 2007 in Paragould. She was 92. Retired from Caterpillar Company, she was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors are two sons, Charles C. HIGHLEY, Corning and Ira, Jr. (Carrol) HIGHLEY, Delaware; one daughter, Mary Wilma BARKER, Corning; daughter-in-law Joyce HIGHLEY, St. Louis, MO.; son-in-law Jim DICKERSON; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ira HIGHLEY, three daughters, Virginia DICKERSON, Pearly Mae HIGHLEY, Betty Jene HIGHLEY; four sisters, Aletha ROUSE, Milidean DODD, Verna GRAVES and Daisy Reynolds; one son-in-law John BARKER; one great-grandchild.
