COMPANIOTTE was born in Knobel, Nov. 9, 1913, daughter of James L. and Mary Ellen VINCENT SMITH. She died Friday, March 23, 2007 in Lady Lake, Florida. She was 93. A graduate of Corning High School and Arkansas State University, she began teaching in Knobel in 1934, also teaching at Allbright School and Neelyville Elementary where she retired in 1977 with a total of 43 years of teaching. She was active in music and volunteer programs in several area United Methodist Churches and was a member of Community United Methodist Church, Fruitland, Florida. Survivors are two children; James L. SCHIMMING, Lady Lake, FL and Mary Beverly WRIGHT, Oceanside, CA; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Fred SCHIMMING,SR. who she married in Nov. 1935. He died April 13, 1968. She married Ewell CAMPANIOTTE, Aug. 10, 1974 and he died June, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Homer, Mark, Joseph, James and Vernon SMITH; three sisters, Effie ATOR, Viola STARR and Mary Ellen STARR; one grandson, Craig WRIGHT. Visitation Friday morning at 9:30 am prior to the 11:00 am service in Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry HUGHES officiating. Burial in Corning Cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home. JERRY ROREX Jerry ROREX was born in Swifton, May 16, 1939 to Leman Franklin and Myrtle Mae SHIRLEY ROREX. He died in his home in Jonesboro, March 25, 2007. He was 67. A retired businessman, he was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church and was a veteran of the National Guard. Survivors include three brothers, Charles ROREX, Farmington, MO, Don ROREX and Carrol ROREX both of Walnut Ridge; four sisters, Frances WATKINS, Broken Arrow, OK, Mary OSBORN, Cocoa, FL, Shirley LEBLANC, Hoxie and Janice LYKINS, Gravette. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Jerry Randall ROREX, (July 9, 1986) and Stephen Timothy ROREX, (March 22, 1987). Graveside services will be Friday, March 30, 2007 in Corning Cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home. LORENE TAYLOR Lorene TAYLOR was born in Knobel, Dec. 6, 1926, daughter of Thomas Elige and Mabel PRICE TAYLOR. She died in her home in Corning, Tuesday, March 27, 2007. She was 80 years old. A homemaker and member of Church of Christ, she married Bill TAYLOR, Nov. 20, 1948. He survives. Other survivors include, one son, Dan (Diane) TAYLOR, Corning; two daughters, Shelia BOWERS, Corning and Billie Jean (Bill) PYLE, Currentview, MO; one sister, Lenora RAY, Washington, MO; 6 grandchildren: Todd TAYLOR, Charleston, MO, Dana MARTIN, Corning, Vicki FITTERLING, Pleasant Plains, Tim TAYLOR, Cornng, Trent PYLE, Corning, Samntha WALLEY, Jonesboro, Trent PYLE, Corning, Samantha WALLEY, Jonesboro; five great grandchildren; Phillip TAYLOR, Marshall, MO, Maddison TAYLOR and Prsley MARTIN, Corning, Taylor and Melody FITTERLING, Pleasant Plains. CODY LAMAR GRAVAT Cody Lamar GRAVAT, Houston, MS, died in an automobile accident Thursday, March 15, 2007 near Houston, MS. He was 19 years old. An avid baseball player, he learned at the knees of his grandmother, Donna GRAVAT with his dad taking over training as he got older. Cody had won many trophies and awards for his abilities. He was a member of the 2006 class of Houston High School. Cody's baseball number 28 will be retired with a ceremony at the school later in the Spring. Cody's sister, Haley, will wear his number on her softball uniform in honor of her brother. Survivors are his parents, John Jr. and Lisa GRAVAT and one sister, Haley; two uncles Jerry and Jeff GRAVAT; one aunt, Missy GRAVAT; grandfather, John GRAVAT,SR.; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe DOBBS. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Donna GRAVAT; cousin Madison GRAVAT; great grandparents Charles and Doris BOOTH, Charles and Thelma GRAVAT, all former Knobel residents. HERBERT HILL Herbert HILL, Corning, was born Dec. 9, 1938 in Engleberg to Jasper and Mary Magdalene DAVENPORT HILL. He died Sat. April 21, 2007 in Randolph County Medical Center, Pocahontas. He was 88. A bricklayer, he married Shirley HILL Dec. 6, 1996 and she survives. Other survivors include, one son, William Craig HILL, Biggers; two daughters, Deloris Ann HILL, Biggers and Felicity Ann HILL, Corning; three step-daughters, Yvonn Lynn GRAVES, Corning, Yvett Luann ARNOLD, Bloomfield, MO., YaLanda Lee KELLER, Poplar Bluff, MO.; two brothers, Arvil HILL, Paragould and William Hank HILL, Cherry Valley; two sisters, Georgia Ann SHOCKLEY, New Albany, MS and Geraldine BURGESS, Pocahontas; 16 grandchildren. Burial in Nelson Cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home. FRANK WILLIAMS Frank WILLIAMS was born in Boydsville, Dec. 15, 1915 to Cyrus William and Yettie Ophelia BANKS WILLIAMS. He died in The Meadows Health and Rehab, April 22, 2007. He was 91. A farmer and employee of the City of Corning as students' crossing guard and dog catcher, he married his wife, Helen, Sept. 9, 1934. She preceded him in death FEb. 15, 2004. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors are one son, Gerald WILLIAMS, Corning; two daughters, Ruth DABBS, Ft. Myers, FL. and Barbara BYERS, Nashville, TN.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also he was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Earnest Willie WILLIAMS and one sister, Rachel BARNHILL. MYERS, Palm Harbor, FL. was born in Covington, TN and moved to Corning where he owned and operated grocery stores for many years before moving away. He died Saturday, April 14, 2007 in Bon Secours-Maria Manor, St. Petersburg, FL. He was 93. A member of the United Methodist Church, he was a Mason. Survivors include one son, Tucker MYERS, Piggott; two daughters, Marilynne M. SILLS, Palm Harbor, FL. and Margaret McBRIDE, Sarasota, FL.; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services were conducted in Dunedin, FL under the direction of Eternal Rest Memories Park and Funeral Home/Clearwater Funeral Home. ERNEST CALHOUN Earnest Junior CALHOUN, was born in Knobel July 26, 1939, the son of Ruth and Nellie FOWLER CALHOUN. He died in Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, April 18, 2007. He was 67. A self employed wood worker, he was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church, Doniphan, MO. November 19, 1960 he married Bonnie Jean HINKLIN CALHOUN and she survives. Other survivors are one son, Jeff CALHOUN, Fairdealing, MO; one daughter, Cynthia Annette (Jeff) YOUNG, Fredericktown, MO; one sister, Sharon BRYANT, Mulberry, FL; one brother, Joe CALHOUN, Marmaduke; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Corning Church of Christ and a homemaker. (GREEN) BELLAMY, House Springs, MO, was born May 19, 1932 in Corning to Eldon and Clarsy Agnes HAYS GREEN, and died Sat. April 7, 2007, at DePaul Health Center, Bridgeton, MO. She was 74. A member of Friendship Baptist Church, she was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed cooking, eating out, going to garage sales and going to church. Survivors are two children, Debra K. FARRIS ALVIN BURNS Farris Alvin BURNS passed away peacefully at the Palo Duro Care Center surrounded by family on Friday, April 20, 2007 after being struck by a vehicle while walking across a boulevard in Amarllo, Texas, Feb. 25, 2007. Farris suffered serious head trauma and injuries to his hand and leg. He had been living in Texas since 2005. Visitation at Ermert Funeral Home was Tuesday night. Funeral services Wednesday, April 25 in Ermert Funeral Home Chapel followed by burial at Cantwell Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be mae to Ermert Funeral Home, Corning. Farris Alvin BURNS was born Sept. 25, 1944 at his family farm house in Hickoria to Bryan and Cecle BURNS. The youngest of seven children, Farris grew up in Hickoria and Corning and attended local schools. Being the baby of the family, he loved to tag along with his older siblings and its been said he really liked to aggrivate them and he always got away with it. He also loved to go arrowhead hunting. After finishing school, he moved to Pendleton, Oregon and met Mary LAMBERT and they married Aug. 23, 1965 in Weiser, Idaho. Throughout their marriage, they moved back and forth from Arkansas and Oregon. They had four children; Anglea, Patricia, Faron and Lisa. Farris met Nina DENNINGS BURNS and they married March 4, 1989. They lived in Corning and had two children; Eric and Heather. Farris worked for Murray's roofing for about 10 years and then moved to Washington State in 1998 where he also did carpentry and roofing until he decided he wanted to move to a warmer climate, Arizona, Nevada and then on to Texas where he worked for a trucking company that distributed food until the time of his accident. He loved to move around and meet different people which meant his family didn't get to see him alot. When he was with his kids in Washington State or his family in Arkansas and Missouri, he was always there for them. Farris was a wonderful Father, Grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and person to be around, always joking and playing with his grandchildren. He loved to go camping and fishing on the Columbia River and also in the mountains of Oregon where he would also hunt for the best moral mushrooms. He loved to cook. His favorite past time was to grow a big garden, hang out with his son-in-law, kids and grandkids and play softball. His nicknames were "Farriswheel" and "Pops". Farris is survived by his daughter and son -in-law, Abel and Angela PEREZ of Walla Walla, WA, daughters Patricia LOPEZ of Prescott, WA, Lisa BURNS of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Heather BURNS of Corning, AR and Rose BURNS also of Corning. Sons: Faron BURNS of Washington State and Eric BURNS of Mountain Home. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Shelly, Ashley, Travis, Bianca, Anthony, Monica, Amelia, Angelica, Sonya, Thalia, McKayli and Justin all fromm the Pacific N.W. Trey, Farrah, MaryKatlyn of Corning and two great grandkids, Adam and Karlee also from the Pacific N.W. He is also survived by two brothers; Benny BURNS and his wife Sondra of O'Fallon, MO and George BURNS and his wife Shirley of Pendleton, OR and two sisters, Paygene ELLIOT of Jackson, MO and Marylou BEHNK of St. Louis, MO and one sister-in-law, Sue BURNS of Owensville, MO. Farris is preceded in death by his parents Bryan and Cecle BURNS of Corning and one brother Alfred Lecoy BURNS of Owensville, MO and one sister, Verlene BRACKEN of Pendleton, OR and also one nephew Ray BURNS of Seattle, WA. NORA J. DUFF Nora J. DUFF, Scotts, MI, was born in Success March 16, 1928, daughter of James and Mary WILLIS VANNADA. She died Sunday April 15, 2007. She was 79. A member of the General Baptist Church, she was employed over 30 years with W.L. Moulding. She is survived by two children, Mary (Al) ARENDT, Tampa, FL and Roger (Cynthia) DUFF, Paw Paw, MI; daughter in-law, Linda (Jeff) BUNCH, Allegan, MI; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Holly BARKS, Kalamazoo, MI and Virgie (Jake) RICHARDSON, Corning; 3 brothers, Elmer (Phyllis) VANNADA, Delmer (Linda) VANNADA and Wayne (Barb) VANNADA all of Corning; nieces, Retha FRYE, Climax, MI and Dolly ROGERS, Poplar Bluff, MO and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank S. DUFF (1981); son Larry DUFF (2002); brother Myron; and three sisters, Georgia "Lena", Lorreen and Vera.
