At least once a year I try to do a Roll Call and I think it is about that time again, we have not had a lot of traffic which has shown me many don't know the other people on the list who are also researching similar lines. I think we are all getting ready to do our internet traveling and may find a new cousin or family reunion you want to go visit but only if you know they are out there. There are not many rules to a Roll Call but I do ask you each to follow a couple. 1. Please don't reply to this email start a new one, many may think you are just trying to reach me, and this subject tells them nothing. So DO use a good subject similar to the following examples. 2. Try and be clear in your descirption of who you are looking for and what you already have. Share with us what you know and/or what you need to know. 3. *and most important be patient there are always new people learing and some will not follow the simple rules.* Thanks Don E. I am searching for any information related to the family of Sophie J. Hurse/Hurst born about 1869 in Greene County, Arkansas to Thomas Hurst and Sarah/Sally (maiden name unknown). Sally was first married to J. J. Swinney. Sophie married John Anselm "Buddy" Moore in Dunklin County, Missouri 23 Mar 1886 with her mother's permission and had two daughters who were raised in Gibson, Dunklin County, Missouri: Lilly and Laura Moore. Sophie had siblings which included: Manda.Hurst/Hurse (born abt 1851 in Indiana, married Samuel W. Smith); Cassy A. Hurse (b.abt 1872 in Clay County, Ark), J. J. Swinney (b. abt 1854 in TN), Robbert H. Swinney (b. abt 1858 in TN, married Elizabeth ?), and Nancy E. Swinney (b. abt 1860 in Arkansas, married Peter Shaffer in Dunklin County, Missouri). In the census, Thomas is always noted as *Hurst* while he was lving- his family was noted as *Hurse* following his death. Thomas is noted as being born about 1816 in Indiana on the 1870 census- the family was in Concord Township, Greene County, Arkansas in 1870 but in Clay County in 1880. There was some sort of a Taylor connection- these families lived near each other for many years and Sophie was enumerated in 1870 in the Taylor household next door to the Hurst household. I have mtdna results on the maternal line which includes Sophie and her mother Sallie.
