    3. Yep............that's the place! It was originally the Irby Funeral Home. My Grandmother's and uncle's funerals were held there, that was in '45 and '51.........................Rita Sometimes, the angels fly close enough to you that you can hear the flutter of their wings.......... -- [email protected] wrote: Hi all, I've got the Sanborn Fire maps for Corning. On the 1927 map it shows the "undertaker" on the north side of Elm St. (Elm is the highway coming into town) between 1st and 2nd Streets. Ist Street is next to and parallels the tracks. So the funeral home was on the west side of the tracks north of the highway (Elm) about a block and a half from the tracks. 3. Hi Betty, The road that comes from McDougal to Corning is Hiway 62. The Hiway crosses the tracks and the funeral home faced hiway 62 just a couple of blocks down after crossing the tracks. I'm not sure if the building is still there or not but I can try to find out. My Dad said it was originally the Irby Funeral Home. ............. Since I am not very familiar with Corning, I am still not real clear just where you are talking about. Did the front of the funeral face the railroad tracks? Do you know the present name of the street on which it was located? I must assume that the building is no longer there?? Any additional information will be helpful. I can still picture the funeral home in my mind and it seems like it may have been near railroad tracks but not sure about that. Also, if anyone would have a picture that would be great. 3. I'm sorry I didn't make my self more clear...........coming into town from McDougal, you cross the tracks so it was on the side that 1st and 2nd streets were on. Say Jan, I noticed your Grandmother's name.......DRILLING. Did they own the 5 and dime store in Corning? Or maybe some other business?? 2. Hi all, I've got the Sanborn Fire maps for Corning.
