Author: lindashipley56 Surnames: catt, hill Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.clay/3220.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: hello, the reason we have two courthouses is because we have two county seats. piggott is the county seat for the eastern district and corning is the county seat for the western district. each courthouse holds only the records for it's district. i did some checking for you. i couldn't find the catt's in either marriage list for the east or the west. the books in the library end with marriages around 1924. i didn't know if they married after that date. if they lived in rector, which is here in the eastern district, and married before 1893, those records were destroyed in a fire. i did find jerry hill in the lists for the western district, at corning. in fact i found two marriages for him. first, ---book e--page 357--- jerry hill age 21 of knobel married ida m. willis age 16 of knobel. nov,18,1901. her father zell willis gave his consent. second-----book g--page 139 jerry hill age 26 of peach orchard married della m. goble age 17 of peach orchard. i just realized i forgot to write down the date. i'll have to get back to you on that. her father benjamin goble gave his consent. you will need to write to the corning address to get the records. i'll get that date to you. sorry about that. linda shipley Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. A lifelong resident of Butler County, he was employed as a farmer. Feb. 28, 2004 he married Tracy BYRD in Neelyville and she survives.
