She died in Des Peres Hospital, St. Louis, MO Sunday June 29, 2007. She was 88. She was of the Pentecostal faith. November 9, 1935 she married Arby CARTER who preceded her in death May 5, 1983. RUTH (CURTIS) BROWN Ruth (CURTIS) BROWN was born February 21, 1922 in Knobel, daughter of Mark Amos and Nettie Opal KENT CURTIS. She died in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould, July 11, 2007. She was 85. Employed by Borg Warner Corp.- Automotive, she was of the Missionary Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Dexter RICE and five brothers Elfra, Paul Max, Omer, Victor and Don RICE. WILLIAM STAGGS William Clinton STAGGS was born in Hickoria August 15, 1926, one of 10 children of Everett Lee and Mary Catherine SHERRILL STAGGS. He died Sunday, July 8, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield, MO. He was 80. He attended Hickoria schools. A veteral of WWII serving with the Air Force 1380 Airborne Div., he moved to St. Louis, MO where he married Ivy Pauline DOWNEY, Sept. 27, 1948. She preceded him in death. He worked for Crown and Cork of Missouri, Sterling Aluminum and Donnelly's Truck Service for 36 years retiring in 1986. He is survived by seven children, John F. STAGGS, Belleville, IL, Eddie R. STAGGS, IL, Patrick D. STAGGS, Mulberry Grove, IL, Michael STAGGS, Granite City, IL, Carol Saunders, Vienna, IL, Joyce Ann STAGGS, Plainview, TX, Kandy STAGGS, Greenville, MO; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers David STAGGS, Corning, Sammy STAGGS, Stillman Valley, IL, and Danny STAGGS, Corning; three sisters Lola of Union, MO, Lela of Poplar Bluff and Vercie of Springfield, IL. He and his wife were foster parents to 70 children over 15 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers and sisters Gene STAGGS, Merle STAGGS and Lua May SHERRILL. He died in Arlington, TX, Monday, July 9, 2007. He was 70. He retired from John Deere/Vermilion Iron in 1985 and worked at Lockheed Martin until he retired in 2004. He attended the Nazarene Church. June 19, 1965 he married the former Shirley O'NEAL in Corning. She survives. He had served as mayor of Neelyville and a member of Butler County Fire Department. March 18, 1988 he married Sharon Kay HUTCHERSON at Walnut Grove Church near Harviell. She survives. My father inlaw, who was 82, passed away the 25th after a long illness. We had been helping with his care and trasporting him to the doctors etc. which took alot of time. A check of the local papers for the time from of 1895-1896 were missing; therefore, we were unable to get any infromation on both Thomas or his father, Alan Chambers. He was born on April 24, 1907, in Pollard, Ark., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Hettie POLLARD) O'NEAL. He was educated in Pollard schools and came to Kenosha from Piggott in 1946. On Jan. 9, 1926, in Piggott, he married Lucy N SLAUGHTER, who survives him. He was formerly emplyed by the Simmons Company and American Motors Corporation, and retired in 1971. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Surviving besides his wife, are three sons, Auda C. and Thomas F. both of Kenosha, and Cecil P., Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Doyle (Maggie) HARMON and Mrs. Clifford (Betty) BAILEY, both of Kenosha; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Curtiss, Piggott, Ark., and James, Denham Springs, La. This was in the Clay Co Democrat on July 5, 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Camellia "Sue" Cox* Mrs. Camellia "Sue" Cox, 78, of Hamptonville, N.C., a native of Rector and formerly of Jonesboro, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at her home. Mrs. Cox was born Jan. 9, 1929, in Rector to the late Oscar and Hettie Barker. She worked and retired from Atlas Asphalt in Jonesboro, where she was an executive secretary. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Wilson Brown Cox; daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Tim Tucker; grandchildren, Joyce Tucker, Paul Tucker and James Tucker; sister, Phyllis Gipson; brother, O.J. Barker, and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, at Mountain View Baptist Church in Hamptonville by Pastor Tim Tucker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cox will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Memorials can be made to Mountain View Church Building Fund, 1232 Mountain View Church Rd., Hamptonville, NC 27020 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville is serving the Cox family.
