    3. Corning Courier Corning, Ark. June 11, 1910 Mrs. Eliza Jackman was before Mayor Oliver’s court Wednesday afternoon, charged with raising a disturbance with her neighbor, Mrs. Robinson, on the east side. Eliza has been before the mayor’s court on several occasions in the past, and has generally had her way with the residents of that part of town, until she met Mrs. Robinson, who gave her what Patty gave the drum, a good, sound beating. Besides having a black eye, the Jackman woman had enough hair in a bundle, which she claimed was pulled from her head during the fight, to start a first-class hair store. She was fined $1 and costs, amounting to $11.60. And all is well.

    3. The Courier Newspaper Clay Co. Ark. April 23, 1910 Depot at Moark Destroyed. ========================= Fire destroyed the depot at Moark Monday morning at 4 o'clock, and it is thought the fire was started from a spark from a passing engine, as the roof was the first to catch fire. T. A. Casto is the railroad agent and also postmaster of the town, and the post office as in the depot. Most everything of value was removed from the building and saved. For a time it seemed that the stores opposite the depot, belonging to Avery & Strong and S. Greenwood would be destroyed, but by heroic work of the citizens they were saved. At present a box car will be used as a depot.

    3. The Courier Corning, Ark. Page 6, Oct. 17, 1908 Funeral Of Geo. Barnhill. ========================= The remains of Geo. Barnhill arrived Thursday afternoon from Santa Barbara, Calif., where he died more than a week previous. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church by Rev. L. G. Pace of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Rev. Fowlkes of this city yesterday afternoon and the interment took place at Corning cemetery. The widow and children were present at the services. Deceased was working at his trade, that of a barber, up to the time of his sudden death He was found in bed Wednesday or Thursday of last week, ten or fifteen hours after his death, by a co-worker. Statements from the coroner and undertaker at that place, give no information as to the cause of his death. There were no marks of violence on the body, it is presumed that some sudden illness is the cause. Mr. Barnhill was about 50 years of age, native of Indiana, but was one of Corning’s pioneer citizens, having been prominent as one of the town’s first barbers, 25 or 30 years ago, and later as mayor, attorney at law, merchant, churchman and politician. The members of Corning barbers’ union closed all their shops here, and acted as pallbearers.
